marathon - A New Mandarin
« on: February 08, 2019, 10:37:36 AM »
Marathon mandarin is a seedless mandarin orange variety that not only tastes good and is easy to peel, but also can be kept on the tree for up to 3 months without losing much of its quality.  Side note:  seems like everything being developed these days is a mandarin.

That's because oranges are typically much harder to develop new varieties because almost all of their seeds are nucellar.

Looks interesting.  Another one that I'll have to keep a watch for with Bingo and UF950.

That and I may be biased, but I think mandarins like the infamous "cuties" are more marketable for all ages than oranges. And in my opinion, There isn't an orange out there that can stand toe to toe with a  tango, Gold nugget, or kishu mandarin!!!
