Arapaiva Avocado Tree ( looking for info on it)
« on: May 19, 2019, 02:12:03 PM »
I dont know all that much about the Arapaiva Avocado tree, i ve read it can take 10 to 14 degrees of cold and i assume that is a large 30 foot tall tree, someone else wrote it can handle 120 degree days, thus thriving in arizona i guess, i read fruit  size and taste is like quality of hass but with a smaller seed. Sounds like the tree is also a fast grower, but can someone share more facts on this variety like does the fruit have good shelf life? does it ship, bruse easy? , how long does fruit need to hang on tree, who has scions or whole small trees for sale, also anyone with a large producing tree can you shed more light or correct the false rumers?

Just heard tonight julie frink was not impressed with taste of Arapaiva avo fruit but i havent heard anyone else yet really not liking the taste of fruit  at least on  youtube anyways, but it still sounds like an interesting tree handling both extreme heat and cold, im not all that impressed with taste of hass and that is whats mostly grown in theses hugh commercial orchards. If anyone has tasted this fruit first hand please chime in your opinion.

I read the link it would interesting to have both duke and aravapia fruit side by side to compare taste as far as the duke it sounds like it ripens too fast within 72 hours after being picked so great for home owner but not practical as a commercial crop.im still looking for details for example when is fruit ready to pick in phoenix, southern cal ? Northern cali?
