That guy is a scammer, He doesn't give the same species, he just sends seeds that look the same; people will buy Durio Macrantha only to see Common Durio Kutejensis grow. Thnx- PedalaiMaster(PM)

Durio kutajensis is one of the best of the "other" species. So if he really sent that it would also be quite valuable, though still deceptive.

The fellow on that site told me I should have enquired about the time machine yesterday.I figured I would have more chance of getting one of those than macrantha seeds from him.

If you buy both together you get a special limited time discount. Also your durians (and everything else) will fruit a LOT faster if you have the time machine!  ;)

Actually a clock can also help you to get fruit faster if the clock runs very slow.

I am trading with a couple of Brazilians, and got seeds from 2 sources. I also imagine Helton Josué should have them for sale.

PM I don't have grafted or seedling D.macrantha.As far as I can work out only 2 farms have them in small numbers and all trees were damaged by Cat 5 cyclones.I have a contact with one of these 2 farms and have 'reserved' 2 fruits. The seeds have been promised to a couple of people and I hope to get them surviving in one more spot at least to ensure their survival.

The news on Durio macrantha this season is not good. The fruit promised to me will not be delivered as the whole crop seems to have failed.I had anticpated getting seeds spread around but that won't happen this year.

Soren I can only guess but the tree population appears to be somewhere between 5 and 10. All have been damaged by two Cat 5 cyclones in the last 6 years. No one has really thought about spreading the species or multiplying them as cyclone damage that wiped out orchards, infrastructure and buildings. The focus of everyone in the district seems to be about economic survival lately.

That does sounds like a species which needs a bit more spreading in range to ensure survival (apart from their should still be a chance for some numbers in its natural range) - any botanical gardens have shown interest?

D.macrantha was collected in the wild only once I believe and it has not been relocated by experienced campaigners who have searched. Whether Kostermanns' original tree still survives is anyones guess. It seems to be so rare and unknown that botanical garden and enthusiasts have not been able to secure specimens and it has not been high on their radar. They would not know who to express an interest with as well.
