Hi All

Collected yesterday were fresh seeds of the following, including the ultra rare (nonedible fruit though) Pararistolochia goldieana, largest flowering vine in Africa. Took way over 1 year to locate.

Contact Wirisy at foresthousecam@gmail.com

Pararistolochia goldieana $3 per seed
Cola flaviflora $2.50 per seed
Inga preussii $2.00 per seed
Treculia Africana $1.50 per seed

Pararistolochia goldieana

Inga preussii

Some other interesting pics which are available when in season:

Cola preussii

Unknown cauliflorous species

Napoleonaea vogelii

Isolona the Pararistolochias here like local Aristolochia are food hosts for many butterfly caterpillars including birdwings and red bodied swallowtails.I wonder if P.goldiena could be a substitute that the Cairns Birdwing can eat?

Hi Mike

Yes I know what you mean. You know there are heaps of unknown natives:

•Pararistolochia australopithecurus
•Pararistolochia deltantha
•Pararistolochia peninsulensis
•Pararistolochia praevenosa
•Pararistolochia sparusifolia

Isolona I grew 3 of those species at my old place and even an undescribed type from Mt Lewis and the butterflies came.

The Inga looks like it should come from Brazil.

Mike

I am happy you said that.......the number of species they have located in the middle of nowhere land in Cameroon that are endemic to Brazil is absolutely amazing.  Gondwana.   Or escaped seed.

Isolona I get your drift (continental) and there are many Gondwanic genera and families here. The same species after 50 to 100 million years of seperation is a bit hard to swallow but the same genus or sub Family in places seperated for that long is plausable.

Some odd distributions can't be explained easily like the Australian boabab that looks much like the African/Madagascan types but it a different species and more recent that Gondwana would explain.
