What does it taste like?

It is pretty unique but not in a bad way. It is hard for me to explain. Sweet/tart. Slightly apricot/fig. Hopefully someone else can chime in.

How old is your tree?  It looks really nice, and I'm wondering how long it'd take to grow one to that size in Southern California.

At least 10 years. This is a friends tree. I think the only pruning it ever received was the power company cutting it out of the lines. I think these would do well in California since it is hardy to the mid 20s. There must be someone out there growing this one.

I bet someone is fruiting Kwai Muk in SoCal. MIne hung in for a winter or two in a 5 gallon but like all the artocarpus the cold winter soil and wild temperature swings were too much for it to be successful here. I always think different strains are variable so I'd try it again but there is that major difference between a dip into the 20's in Florida vs Cali.
Thanks for offering the seeds and the best pics I've seen posted.

Seeds are sold out for now. Hopefully I will be able to get more in the near future. I'll post on this thread if I do.

Thanks for sharing your growing experience B2B. This seems like a good candidate for at least SoCal or maybe a NorCal microclimate. I know Joe Hewitt was playing around with this in Los Gatos. It is strange how rare this even in Florida but I guess that can be said for a lot of tropicals.
