Help identifying a mango type
« on: August 25, 2018, 07:08:02 PM »
I found this tree in a local community (west palm beach,fl) and for the life of me, I cannot for sure ID it. The tree still has green mangoes on it, so its fir sure a late season mango. No fiber, and sweet when right like the one on the right. Can anyone help me, please? I may have to take some branches and attemot a graft.  :-[

Might be Baileys Marvel. A lot of early/mid season stuff held on late due to second bloom this year.

I'm not sure. I will check this out as well. I have been picking from this tree for 3 or 4 years now and it last late into the year all the time. I just picked tbe last few last sunday.

The mango that comes the close seems to be Cushman. I am not confident though. I suppose I will just attempt a graft next season. :(

Cushman does not attain that orangey color with the rosy hue.  Its a dull paler yellow when fully colored.  Shape is wrong, too.

Post a picture of a fruit cut in half.

What is the tree's size/shape ?

I tried to cut one, but my wife decided she was gonna beat me to it. The tree is about 12 to 15 feet; been like that for years. It's under a much bigger tree at an abandoned house.
When the next is ripe, i will cut it in have. Any particular seed cut side?

I'm still sticking with Gold Nugget for now.  Can you show the shape of the seed?
