Tropical Fruit Discussion / Home made compost for fruit trees
« on: March 22, 2018, 03:48:21 PM »
Wondering, if ppl use home made compost around fruit trees? If yes, how do your apply it? And also when do your apply it?
Also if you apply compost, do you still apply fertilizer (organic/inorganic) or that's not needed?

Asking this, as i started making my home made compost from leaves, grass clippings, coffee grounds, kitchen scrap (including egg shells). One batch is almost ready and second seems to be ready soon. I am planning to use it in fruit trees along with my vegetable garden, but wondering do my trees need fertilizer after that or compost is good enough.

Can ppl share their thoughts and experience with compost?

« on: March 06, 2018, 05:32:28 PM »
I have tried couple of root cuttings few months back and now they are showing new growth. I kept some of them (Pakistani Mulberry) with heat mat and others (Grape, Fig, Pomegranate, Persimmon) in pot without any heat mat in garage. Now as the weather is warming up, wondering if i can keep them outside and also in direct sunlight / shade area. Any thoughts or suggestion for that?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Why my guava leaves are brown?
« on: February 25, 2018, 01:10:14 AM »
It's Hawaiian white guava and in ground from 2 years. It's leaves at the upper part is brown and few leaves at the bottom are green. Last year it tried to fruit 1 guava but it didn't stay long. Is the brown leaves due to lack of nutrition or due to cold weather? I am in zone 9b. Haven't put any protection in winter and it's doing fine.

Hello,

I have Orange, Lemon, Lime, Avacado and Mango trees. Found online some fertilizer which works for all of them (i.e.SUNNILAND CITRUS, MANGO AND AVOCADO FERTILIZER). Wondering if anyone has any feedback for it or other suggestion for organic fertilizer for my trees?

Avacado and Mango trees are 2-3 ft tall and just planted this year. Citrus trees are full grown trees.

I am planning to order some mango trees from India. I am not sure if they can be delivered to California, neither the seller. Wondering if someone can help understand how the process works and if the order can be successfully delivered to California or not? And how do postal service filter packages to decide if to allow any package containing tree or not?
