Also, the auctions I do on ebay are private, so you can't go back and see the final price paid for each auction.

So in conclusion - in the case of your auctions (sales entries) and forum publications, after some time no one will find out at what price the product was sold. As for me, however, this is an little inconvenience, because by reading this forum you can not compare previous and current prices. The reference point also disappears. So If you want to set the sales price based on other offers it is not possible. Auctions (regardless of whether it is a buy now option or a public or private bid) disappear after some time, so the reference point also disappears.

52
In the case of your specific auctions, you enter the starting price, for example 30 USD, so in the case of your offer, the price is at least USD 30, so it is initially determined and constitutes a specific. My question is rather about price quotation for the auction with the option to buy now. In addition, I would like to find out if it is necessary in this situation to quote the initial prices / minimum prices for which a particular plant or seeds are put in the bidding option. Anyway, giving the initial price in the offer with the auction can be a good advertisement, especially if the auction will be from 1 USD. What do you think about Oscar? it's also interesting what the admin thinks about it. Thanks.

(14.01.2019 Of course, it was about Adam and not about Oscar. I'm sorry for my mistake.)

Where in the US are you located? My package was seized by US customs and I received an empty envelope...Glad you received yours.

You got an empty envelope, because currently it is illegal to bring seeds to the US without USDA approval. There is a financial penalty for this. Fortunately, they are not able to check all parcels, hence some illegal shipments arrive without any damage.

Hello Han Sen,
what is the average weight of your garcinia mangostana seeds?
Regards. Dominik

55
Does garcinia prairiana have any specific climate requirements?
I raise the question about the taste of fruit.

56
Is the price given in the auction reference, such as here:

http://tropicalfruitforum.com/index.php?topic=8605.925

Is acceptable? Should the price always appear in the content of the entry (eg under the link to the auction)?

In my opinion, the price (and the name of the product offered in the online reference) should be in each entry (on the forum), regardless of whether it is additionally in the link or not. It gives everyone - a nice point of reference. After some time the auctions expire and you can not check what the previous price was. Please, if possible, explain from the admin.

Dear Nimfa. In some countries, officials can/are destroying outgoing packages (regardless of whether they can be legally accepted in the country of destination or not). The possibility of destroying a package with seeds should be described in the carrier's regulations or the regulations of a given country. It is sick, but the only sensible solution is shipping from a country where there are no such restrictions. I had many similar cases. In all cases, the seller offered a full refund (I accepted/get only payment for damaged/confiscated seeds, I suggested that the payment for the shipment remains with the seller). In this way, we shared a loss. It does not matter in this situation but: I feel sorry for the sellers that they are live in countries ruled by such stupid officials. Regards

Dear Nimfa and Zoli, many of us - readers have a lot of respect for yours work. Seed preparation requires a lot of energy and commitment. It is often a gigantic effort, and all have to make it know clear. Sometimes there are changes that are problematic for the seller or buyer (but they depend on unpredictable matters). Sometimes, however, despite the energy and goodwill placed on both sides, the situation is such that the seller has a payment, and the buyer has nothing, or have a product that he does not need (each case may be different).

I'm trying to help somehow. Paulish, Nimfa and Zoli, can you please just try to empathize and fully understand the other side and somehow share the loss?

Good luck.

Sure, styrofoam is a good medium. Here, colleague Paul has driven too far.

It's nice that Zoli and Nimfa are making their dreams come true. I wish you success.
Admittedly, I understand why Zoli has changed the product, but it is right on the side of colleague Paul. If the exchange was not agreed and the buyer does not accept it, then it must be treated as if the product was not sent.
Zoli, in my opinion, colleague Paul is entitled to a partial refund (for not sended seed specie). Replacing products is possible, but after the buyer explicit consent. Here, there can be no such thing, and the lack of possibility to agree can not be an excuse. The fact that shipping to the US is associated with the necessity of subscribing to the USDA license for a specific import only confirms me in this belief. In such a case, it is better to simply pay for the missing goods and treat the additional seeds (substitution) as free for not sending a complete order. In this way you will gain another customer who, despite the lack of the ordered product, will receive another - for free. Customers like free products, and they do not like not receiving the ordered product. Thus, the balance will be positive or neutral. Otherwise, you scared a lot of buyers before making orders in seedpirates. Such situations described in public should be a warning to other sellers. They can seriously reduce the company's revenues. I wish you a good solution. Regards

Mvule101 and Brian Laufer, can we know the prices?

BUYER BEWARE: greedpirates sent me seeds I did not order for my money and ignored all attempts at a tangible resolution despite the fact that I'd given them hundreds of dollars of business. So much customer appreciation much less basic decency and professionalism. They didn't even bother to communicate the change; I had to find out when the package arrived. Zoli admits that he knew they weren't the seeds I ordered but he thinks it's acceptable to substitute at his discretion and spend customers money as he sees fit. Furthermore they packed my very sensitive and expensive seeds with styrofoam of all things as a medium so many arrived dying instead of germinating. Some sellers can only accept friend and family paypal transfers out of necessity but greedpirates do it because they have zero integrity and refuse to take accountability for their mistakes.

Hi Paulish,
I do not have information about Zoli, but i know from my experince that the Nymph from seedpirates packs the seeds well and is kind. Sending other seeds than ordered (what you wrote about) is a very serious matter. I never saw this from seedpirates. It's hard for me to believe in their case. Can you document it somehow?

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Re: Seeds shipped into US
« on: June 19, 2018, 07:53:57 AM »
sotasty8, I am not 100% sure when it comes to seeds (because many large seed sellers have different information, consciously or unconsciously breaking the law, etc.) but from what I know sending seeds and plants to the USA (regardless of quantity) without the consent of USDA is illegal and fined. This applies in particular to the species listed on the list which you will find in USDA (the list is very long). The phytosanitary certificate will not help here. What can only fool customs officers, and sometimes the pack will pass without destroying the contents, however, the import of seeds into the US without USDA approval (and certainly imports of plants) may be illegal on the basis of 7 CFR part 319 act. Call USDA and ask for details and think about obtaining official approval for a specific import (you must fill in the appropriate form PPQ587). It may save you nerves and money.

Here you have the information that the dispatch of plants and seeds requires consent:

https://www.aphis.usda.gov/aphis/ourfocus/planthealth/import-information/permits/plants-and-plant-products-permits/ct_plantproducts

Good luck.

Gouralata, please accept my expression of compassion for you. The main thing is that nothing happened to you (I hope that nobody else suffered?)

Some trees are worth trying to save, for this purpose they dig them up a little, so that they can return to earth. Boughs, of course, need to be shortened (you need to make these trees as low as possible). Then gird around with a belt or some rope and try to drag the machine into a slightly undermined place (you have to dig enough to sap the tree a little deeper than the previous level). Some of the trees will not survive, they will break off completely, but those whose part of the roots will be saved can be saved. It is necessary to attach such trees permanently (girdle) so that they do not fall over and do not harm anyone. For a few years they will be less stable and then they should be tied from two sides (from the side from which they were torn out). Tying them you must remember to protect the trunk from crushing and wiping through the rope (something must be put under the rope, some rubber or other elastic material that protects the trunk from the rope pressure). Shortening and trimming branches may improve the effectiveness of such activities and prevent injury or killing someone (above all, safety, also if you decide to save these trees, remember necessarily about tying the trees for some time). Good luck - if you take on the difficult task of saving some of the trees. Dominik

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Trying to fruit Theobroma grandiflorum
« on: March 29, 2018, 02:51:00 PM »
Peter, the lack of cross pollination with a relatively less related tree would be the most optimistic solution. I think your solution is very good, especially that it works for you. Unfortunately, only a part (maybe most but not all) grandiflorum are allogenic:

http://www.scielo.br/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&pid=S0044-59671995000400181

This complicates matters a little. However, on Piotr's advice, just in case, I will plant additional trees of the same species from different regions. It could help.

Annonaceae did you try (as part of the test) to pollinate them manually?

Hi Annonaceae,

I grow these fragile species + some subincanum in the conservatory and after 5 years of contact with them I estimate that I am still a beginner. Usually it may be a matter of the local microclimate, insects or too young age or to small size of individual species (from what you are writing, these last two things look unlikely for your plants).

If you can ask directly, more experienced people:

about grandiflorum: Bryan, Montoso gardens from Puerto Rico
about bicolor: Micah from Hawaii
about gileri: Jim West from Ecuador

Only Micah is often in this forum, the rest must be asked personally by email.

Thanks for answer Luke. I have one more question. Is shipping only to the US based solely on a license or is it a matter of choice? Regards. Dominik

Hi qwertzuiop, once I had a similar case, only thanks to innate inquiries and support from this forum I managed to solve the issue. Write to USDA. You have to address the matter to the right person and they should respond. If you do not have a response within a few days, write to another address, someone should direct you properly. Good luck.

Markinnaples, yes - sometitimes the main problem is with the regulations of the country into which the plants were being imported. But the list of problematic countries is short. Our country do not belong to that short list.

At the moment, I think that the main problem is the US system of legislation, especially for small US exporters  (licensing, postal restrictions, support for large corporations etc). As far as imports are concerned, it may be of relevance to US security, but in the case of exports there is no such link. In fact, the system of these obstructions is completely fatal and harmful to small, family-owned American companies.

Chupa King, you are right, there are many more useful sugar cane species.
At the moment I have few different "industrial" varieties of sugarcane, I'm looking for a variety of heilroom, real black asia (not "fake" from ebay), and a few others, just because they are decorative.

sahai1, exactly, hilo buddha sugar cane is beautiful and worth spreading around the world.

So I'm waiting for someone to offer this species for sale - with shipping worldwide (excluding problematic countries).

72
Markinnaples, thanks, but they dont ship outside continental US.

If US companies need special permission or a license to ship outside of the US, does the same thing apply to individuals? Does the average SMITH who wants to send a plant to a colleague in Europe need to have any governmental or state consent or license?

73
Hello. Looking for sugar cane heilroom "hilo buddha" (can be few cuttings with eyelashes or rooted shoots). Does anyone have any for sale. I pay good price 20 USD for each cutting + shipping costs.
Thanks,
Regards
Dominik

Maybe he sold out seeds. I send him a message the same day, short time after he write sales offer here. No any answer.

These bananas will grow in a month or two of the rhizomes that they have in the ground, and this farmer can "be relatively" in good shape (compared to other farmers who have nothing left) because it is enough to wait until the plantation is reborn. Worse to old trees that fell over, or unique planting units (where one plant was a disease, help, shadow for another) these can be destroyed as a result of microclimate change. It's a bit of a relief to write that probably in a few months, probably the furthest year, nature (and agriculture) will most likely return to normal. Lots of work ahead of locals. God bless them.
