I have both Thai "greater" and "lesser" galangal. The greater gets taller to at least 6ft tall and has thicker stems and the lesser about 4ft tall max and thinner stems. Both taste about the same. The greater has bigger rhizomes too. Both super easy to grow.

raul, your grocery store should have them.  i bought a few pieces and stick into ground and the grow in greenhouse.  i think they love shades.
