Wanted: Krachai, "Finger-root" (Broesenbergia pandurata)
« on: June 14, 2017, 06:22:34 PM »
I am searching for live rhizome of Krachai, with the Latin name of "Boesenbergia pandurata" (or  "B. rotunda"). Please discuss amounts available in your initial response.

Needs shipping to either Hawai'i or California.

Please respond to  seekingseeds at g mail dot com

Googling reveals this to be an interesting ginger relative used frequently in Thai cooking. Articles mention it can be found fresh in Thai grocery stores. I would guess that you could grow it from store bought rhizomes. The flower is quite a beautiful pinkish lavender.

After years of checking, asking and poking my nose in everywhere I thought might possibly have it, I finally managed to get my hands on some. The fact that each and every one of the eBay posts I've ever see contain some mish-mash of the exact same photographs sketched me out enough to keep searching elsewhere, and thankfully it's finally paid off. =) Thanks, Craigslist, of all things! There are four out of twenty-four who have sprouted so far.

(Pardon the gawdawful cellphone image quality - or rather the lack thereof.)

Still, despite my success in finding some, I remain interested in acquiring more. If anyone has some Krachai available please let me know.

I have plenty of them. Ready to grow, with "eyes", 100% sprouting in 7-10 days.
I posted a sell before but nobody was interested.
They grow pretty fast like 5-6 months, then they are ready for harvest. Now they do take like 4-5 months of dry season to make buds.
So here are the rizhomes.
I can post them to US with no problem, it takes 2 weeks. Just check if you can import them.

I have loads of them and they are easy to grow. Some of the pictures here with the exception of first have the appearance of that other much loved ginger kencur.

I would like to grow some of these if you possibly have any for local pick up.
Biodiversity is key.

For all the rare gingers your hearts desire try a man named Craig by company name"Just Ginger" or Andy at "Bamboo Garden Groves". Should be able to about source all the edible and medicinal gingers between the two.
Trying to grow it all!
