Pinching back mango flowers
« on: May 11, 2023, 08:15:54 PM »
I have this small grafted mango that tried pushing out flowers over a month ago. I knocked those back and is now sending out even more flowers. Any advice on how to encourage foliage instead?

I heard you  are supposed to let it hold fruit then remove them when they are pes size to discourage re bloom. Works for me.

Usually, you let them fully bloom and then cut off most of the flowers.  Just leave some flowers at the base so it won’t send out more of them. Then, take them off if any set fruit. Mangoes set fruit based on cooler temperatures so I’m not sure what will happen in your climate with cooler nighttime temps for a large part of the year.
