I apologize if it’s not OK to ask but does anyone know if Matt’s landscaping is closed?

I just found out that Mattslandscaping Epicacti Nursery in Fallbrook, CA is closed.

Not sure what’s happening with Matt’s Landscape, but his website is still active and I could still place an order if I wanted to🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️
People have and been waiting 3 months

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Sending seeds to USA?
« on: September 08, 2019, 01:57:28 PM »
It's the buyer, not you, who is responsible for getting the seeds here legally.  If they (or a friend) have a USDA permit, they can email it to you, along with a COLOR copy of the USDA shipping label that they get with their permit.  You enclose a copy of the permit with the seeds, along with a note stating the botanical name, who collected it and from what country, slap the label on, and away it goes.  It is very easy, and depending on which port it goes through, it doesn't slow the process down too much.  I get seeds from Africa all the time that way.  I also mail myself seeds all the time when I travel.  An addicting hobby.

Cheers,
Carolyn
I agree and takes from a week to 30 days for USDA permit

Updated info due to Post Cleanup and will use cuttings for a demo on 13th Sep, and then after that will began back sending out cuttings

31
Update is there will be more cuttings pending USPS to open

32
WILL NOT BE SHIPPING UNTIL AFTER HURRICANE and when the post office will reopen, sorry and thank you

33
Shipped out DF and will send out tracking numbers today

34
Interesting data, thanks for posting.

Can I ask how how you perform your testing?  I noticed that you have Zamorano and San Ignacio both listed as self fertile. In my experience both of these need cross pollination to set fruit.

Cheers,
Richard
Bag over the flower and 8 pm go out and use its own pollen and close back up with popsicle stick and shake into a bowl

I apologize if it’s not OK to ask but does anyone know if Matt’s landscaping is closed? I spoke with him on 7/27/19 and placed a small order which he said he’d fill the next weekend. That was the last I heard about the order. I’ve called a few times but the recording says the mailbox is full. I haven’t been charged so am not out anything. It seems like I need to give up on my order and look elsewhere.
Just curious about my experience though.
Thanks.

He was moving to a bigger property and going bigger retail and trying to get away from doing small oders.  Hes busy with bigger stuff I guess.  He was selling a lot of landscaping cactus to retailers.  Not a good excuse to treat your customers that way.   It is what it is.

Thanks for the info. No big deal. He did talk a little about how busy he is. As long as I’m not fighting for a refund I’m good. Who knows, he may fill the order eventually.
Also that is his 2nd job also for dragon fruit

Ax   13      Cross Pollinate                                    "Gray Martin who is a commercial grower, got some seeds from Edgar which was AsuntaXunknown so he labeled it AX, which he gave to a friend who in return put this plant on the market without his knowledge. Here is his Statement: Briefly as it is time to go... :) Our dear community friend Edgar Valdivia was getting a photo session with Paul Thomson here at my house... He later used it for the cover of Paul's book. Edgar did a lot of the work to get that book published. Leo was also here. Edgar in his fashion brought fruit samples and two one-gallon pots with three 'Asunta' seedlings in them. He did not know the pollen source. I grew them out... Years later one bloomed purple. The fruit was beautiful! One fruit. I scheduled a trip to Simi Valley to visit Edgar and cut the fruit. I took other samples.. We cut it so carefully... White flesh and taste-less! The next year the other two flowered.. I ignored them as I was busy with my own selections... Late in the year, very late I saw this green fruit laying limp, slightly over matured…. I cut it off and grouped with my others with a pen scribble... At the end of the season I was cleaning up the refrigerator full of fruit and there was the green fruit. I cut it as if to say ""OK, show me what you've got!""--not expecting anything of value and there was the most vibrant magenta hue! Shocked I tasted it and it again shocked my senses.... I grew out several more, but lost the mother to gophers...Now I have a dozen or so... I gave a few to my friend... The variety is not self fertile. It takes 60+ days to maturity and matures almost green! But, it is one of the favorites here. My son partially freezes them for the best summer fruit snack ever!  so to have others propagate your work with no mention is hurtful...I explained how I grew Edgar's seedlings and that I was keeping Edgar apprised... This Asunta cross of Edgar's was technically not from my breeding work and so I had intended to distribute it but on my terms... In those days there were no Facebook groups... there was a yahoo blog and maybe I discussed it there... This is why I let my friend grow it. I gave it a name when giving it away as I said I labeled it 'Ax?' (Asunta crossed with unknown) so I call it Ax (pronounced Axe) FYI                    This was Acquired in California"
