They are not in season yet.  California annona season is only during late winter or spring spring.  Mainly spring.  Florida and Hawaiia has 2 season.  California has one--spring.  U may not see fresh local grown until spring.  Ong nursery actually have an annona farm in Temecula and he sales it wholesale.  I don't know if u can actually buy from them.  Right now is wax apple season so u may be apple to find some in the specialty market or try asking ong nursery for sample.  Some one actually gave me these wax apple today.  Yummy!!!

I haven't seen any for sale yet in the San Diego area.  I have been looking in Vietnamese markets and Mexican produce stores.  I thought they may import some from Florida or Mexico, but no luck yet.

I have not seen fruit bearing sugar apple trees at Ong's nursery. I go to the Asian grocery stores regularly
once or twice a week and in my 6+ years here, I have never seen (non frozen) sugar apple fruits for sale in any season.

My Florida bought little Na Dai SA tree is doing well but not yet bearing.

Thanks,
FruitFool

I think JF might have the fruits. Try to order fruits from him when it is in season.

I thought the sugar apples in Little Saigon were 'fresh' No? (maybe 'post-wash') 'Seemed like it. I have had fresh ones in Vietnam that were similar. Chris

Hi, OCchris1,

I have not been to Little Saigon in San Diego.
Is there a specific shop that I should check out there?

Thanks,
FruitFool

Yes, Little Saigon in OC. We usually go to the mall on on Bolsa and Magnolia. There are a few fruit vendors there but we usually have the best luck at Trai-Cay Ngon. There are many fruit stores in Westminster/Little Saigon. If you ask them, they will tell you what season the fruit you're looking for will come in. Good luck. Chris
