Maprang ripe on Pine island.  Another first for me. Really beautiful tree and the fruit is pretty fantastic?!

Very nice! Is it from seed or grafted? And how old? I just planted two 3 foot maprang seedlings. I had to build sun shades for them, because they seem a little sun sensitive and the new growth started to turn black. They seemed much happier in filtered sun.

I know of multiple trees in Boynton Beach thriving and fruiting in full sun.

I used to have more pictures but can only find this one.

I think I didn't transition mine slow enough. I was too impatient. We had those two fronts come through right after I planted them with highs in the mid 90's and 30% humidity and not a cloud in the sky.

I could have been overzealous with the fertilizer too and it caused the leaf damage. At least we received 11" of rain to wash some of it away. These trees are a learning process. I find they can be a little finicky and I just need to figure out what makes them happy.

Not my trees but at a friend's place on the island? Pretty sure grown from seed, had some newer grafted ones also. I'll ask about the age next time I'm there.

I was so excited about mine. And it seemed to do well for maybe 6 months. Well, as in it didn't actually grow, but it didn't change at all and looked healthy. But then all of a sudden it lost all its leaves inside of a week, for no reason I know of. The stem is still green, but there are no new buds. So I'm hoping it didn't just decide to die out of nowhere. All the other plants around it around ok. Just my luck, we probably have some pest down here that is detrimental to it, that people in other parts of FL don't have. I don't know - it happened so fast I didn't get a chance to figure out what happened. If anything, it should be happy now that we're getting a bit more rain (but no flooding or anything like that). I hope it comes back!!...  :(

I've heard there are different kinds. Taste of these was great? Really reminds me of apricot/mango/peach blend. No bitterness, strange flavors or aftertaste. I wish I had Jared's descriptive skills. Super juicy and the skin is sweet, pops like a grape when you bite into it.
