Seashore mangosteen.
« on: June 09, 2015, 09:37:16 PM »
Here is a picture of my 2 garcinia hombroniana grown from seed.

The one on the right took 7 month to grow those new leaves. The one on the left sprouted 1 month after the right one, so I'm expecting new growth on this one next month.
Man are they slow growers! At this rate it will take 3 or 4 years to see the first branch.

nice little plants!

good luck with them!

I have one that was root bound very badly...I just planted it out into my yard this year...now the sun has burned the leaves, but it's really a very strong tree...(about 5ft tall x 4ft wide, the tree has a very beautiful growth habit, and symmetrical shape)

i really enjoy these fruits!  they are tart, but not too tart to eat out of hand...to me they have a sour apple, banana, mangosteen flavor. (good with miracle fruits!!)

Yes the taste is nice, but I'm not expecting fruits before a long time.
Did you grow yours from seed too?
