Tropical Fruit Discussion / wax jambu in san diego?
« on: December 27, 2017, 03:51:30 PM »
Still new to growing wax jambu. Is it normal for wax jambu tree to lose its leaves in the winter in San Diego? Leaves turned brown before falling off.

My green jambu tree (4 feet height) in the ground in its first winter.

It's gotten cold (26 to 33 F) in San Diego so far.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Kari star fruit question
« on: December 11, 2017, 11:48:25 PM »
I bought a 15 gallon kari star fruit around thanksgiving. I put the tree outside in san diego weather and i noticed the leaves are starting to turn yellow and have dried up.

Do star fruit trees lose their leaves in winter?

I had to move the pot and tree inside the garage during the strong santa ana winds. The tree did experience the wind for some times. Could that also caused the leaves to dried up?

Tropical Fruit Discussion / foliar spray
« on: September 19, 2017, 02:15:45 PM »

I'm just curious if anyone other than me have been using the shamus o'leary foliar feed spray purchased from I've been using it for 4 months. Shamus and Jake did a video on this on Youtube.

If not, what do you use for foliar leave feed?

Also, what is a good organic and non organic fertilizer to use? I've been using (non organic) Grow More Water Soluble High Foss (10-52-10) for my trees (longan, carrie mango, wax jambu, avocado, acerola, and atemoya).

Been using it twice a month for past 6 months and so far it's going good.

Interested in what others are using.
