Nice!  Persons who have emotional problems about eating fruits with "rubbery" texture just don't know what they are missing!

Firm, yes, but rubbery? not to me.  I guess this is just a way to say less soft?

The 48-26 has soft  consistency, and some don't like the texture.

But I've never heard a complaint about someone saying an atemoya was to rubbery.

Is this a common complaint? or only a select few?

Guess you missed all the African Pride atemoya bashing? Yup it's often rubbery textured. Combined with super sweet somehow it's often off putting. Same sugar content in a soft creamy cherimoya is delicious.

thanks for the run down Oscar, I did miss it.

I can't believe people complain about gefner. or gefner like fruits.

Yep. There's also a yellow-ish sugar apple that has a rubbery consistency. It's my personal favorite, but it seems some people prefer the soft texture of the more common green/red sugar apples.

These first fruits didn't require pollination, but after I saw 4 nice ones set, I started to pollinate more.

So i guess the answer is no, but do remember I have over 10 flowering annona trees capable of pollinating each other, and also beetles of all sorts come around here! (u helped me figure out which one! thanks...now when I speak to the fruit clubs, I won't be giving them the wrong info!!!)

ya cookiemonster,

i got one from u!  and it's flowering!! it was the last one u had.   it was called "rubber", but I've seen reference to a different name for this fruit...does anyone know the cultivar name of the common sugar apple variety that has rubbery consistency?

Guanabanus?

I know we have had the rubbery atemoya discussion, but I don't think I really weighed in on the subject.  I am in the camp of firm....yes.......... rubbery.....never experienced it.  I definitely prefer the firmer fleshed annonas to the mushy ones.  But for me, rubbery has no place in the decriptive word cache for any of the atemoyas, cherimoyas or sugar apples I have tried.

it may be due to my lack of annona consumption, but I agree 1,000,000%
