Papaya Topping

Some of the 6-year-old papaya plants in my backyard are getting pretty tall and the fruit is more than 10' above the ground.  I noticed that some plants that were knocked in half by wind storms a couple of years ago have recovered and started fruiting.  I was wondering if it would be a good idea to cut the tall plants down to about 4' and hope for the best?

Cut it down and grow new from seed..it takes less than a year to go from seed to fruit and the qualities going to be so much better and more productive, I cut mine down every 3 years

I agree fresh trees are healthier and bear better fruits. Maybe cut down old ones every 3 years but at a minimum keep planting fresh ones every year so that replacements are in line when needed.

Finally lopped off about 6' to 8' from each of the 4 tallest Papaya plants and they have all put out new leaves and one is producing fruit.  It seems to take forever for Papaya seeds to germinate when I try to grow them in seed starter mix, but some have finally poked through.
