What I really liked about the vid is that people would negociate with the owner to rent the whole tree, Like you would rent a car!
And the Municipality incentivate the people to keep their trees and in return if you have more than 5 trees you will get a discount on the IPTU!
IPTU-Imposto Predial e Territorial Urbano. which is some form of taxes!

Oscar, that really sound's Fantasic! When you go to Manaus you must take pics of the fruit's that you encounter in the Amazon!  ;D ;D ;D which would be AWESOME!!! ;D ;D ;D
Time is like a river.
You cannot touch the same water twice, because the flow that has passed will never pass again.
Enjoy every moment of your life!

Looks nice! Do you have Paulista over there? Also gets about 50 cent piece size and has very large leaves.

No I've never spotted one yet.

Chris Rollins said he had a nice paulista fruiting size tree at spice park, and one day when he went out to go see it, she was gone!

Someone treenapped this tree!

Talk about a coveted fruit!  Dear lord..take a seed or a fruit, not the whole plant...its just not classy.

I hope the thieves at least kept it alive! If u are out there u know who you are, and may you have deformed fruits and burnt leaf tips for the rest of your days.

You mean they dug it out of the ground?

Looked at Lorenzi's book Brazilian Trees Vol 3.

and he changed up his descriptions of plants quite a bit...

also profiles of plants don't look like what I have mine labeled as!

His spirito santensis fruits are shiny enough to see a reflection, but the ones I call m spirito santensis, are so fuzzy, its like trying to see your reflection in suede.

Trunciflora, looks off too.

But I know there are several variations within the species, and also his growing conditions are different, and time of fruit harvested for photo may be different than the appearance of the fruit when a person typically harvest the fruit to eat.

But still, the photos and info is way off, compared to Brazilian Fruit trees.

now I don't know what to believe...maybe the only way to find out for sure is to take a plant to brazil, and stare at these trees for about 5 yrs...I've stared at this book long enough!

I'm anxiously awaiting my new M. spirito-santensis seedlings to emerge, while a couple of my hybrid jabo seedlings are already up from a recent fruitlovers order.  Very exciting!

Adam, seeing as how I'm living in an armadillo-free zone here, I wonder if you could in good conscience tell me where you obtained P. edulis seeds?  Are they something Oscar sometimes offers?  I haven't been able to source them (though I haven't searched very long).

it was a pain to obtain.  I got some from Oscar. but I also got some from a bearing tree near me.

frankies has nice ones,(plants not seeds) they cost a arm and leg to get one.

I also traded some plants to a friend, who gave me a bunch of seedlings.

i also have 2 trees in 7 gal pots.  I really want these to grow fast and fruit young!  so I'm using every trick in the book that i know. water like crazy, fertilize lightly, but frequently, full sun, and micro nutritional sprays, at least 2 times a month.
