Why are my red Jaboticaba seedling dying? :,(
« on: February 14, 2018, 04:09:05 PM »
I have 5 red Jaboticaba seeds that germinated each of which had multiple sprouts. All of the seedlings startoff fine and then the tips start to turn black and then they eventually die. I only have a few left that have not turned black...yet... I have tried soap spray on some and copper fungal spray on other but no luck so far :,( does anyone know why my guys are dying!

Possibly too much water, soil looks kinda bog down.

It happens sometimes. And dont disturb the soil looking to see if it rot. About 70% of the time they put out new sprouts after the initial die back. Keep in indirect sunlight. Keep soil moist. Dont give em too much care. I've noticed that they do not like heavy, dense mixes when wet.

I used to get that a lot, with many of my seedlings of different seeds, not just jabo. I've since found out that it was due to too much water, causing root rot.

achetadomestica I haven’t given them any fertilizer since they are still very young.

I’ll cut back on watering and hope they survive.

Thanks guys :)
