Cupuassu milk
« on: September 11, 2012, 08:52:09 PM »
I use cupuassu pulp (haven't actually had it for several years but I used to get it once a year) in about the same ratio as cacao powder (though the flavor is very different), a little more cupuassu pulp than cacao though.

1 large glass of milk
~2tbs cupuassu pulp
sugar to taste (2-4tbs)

cupuassu pulp should be blended before hand, grind with the sugar, slowly add milk.

drink and relax!
What's that got to do with Jose Andres $10 brussel sprouts?

Cupuassu pulp are found in Brasilian markets here in the US.  I will bet there is one in D.C that sells it.
Cupuassu is a fantastic tasting fruit.  I find cas guava taste a bit similiar to cupuassu.

I love both cupuassu and cas guava but I find them very different, except that unless you get a "developed" cupuassu the pulp is extremely sour (more sour than cas).

Red Durian- if you pass through Singapore on your way home the singapore botanical gardens has a cupuassu tree.  When I was there in July it was bearing fruits!

Thanks for the tip.  My colleagues are always visiting Singapore.  Maybe someone will bring seeds for me.

I also noticed you were looking for "nam nam".  "Gardens by the Bay" (in Singapore right off a metro stop) has a number of "nam nam" trees in their outdoor gardens.
