Loquat relatives

Is there any loquat relatives out there with edible fruit ? I like growing relatives of things

There are about a dozen accepted species of Eriobotrya. Not sure how you could get ahold of them. Not sure if the fruit are worthwhile, but hybridizing might produce interesting result ( hybrid vigor)

Bronze Loquat is the one you are most likely to encounter.  Wasn't aware any of the others were notable for fruit.

Loquat is a relative to quinces and can be grafted onto them and vice versa.

There are around 21 different species in the Eriobotrya family. At least five species are grown for their fruit, but there seems to be hardly any information out there on any Eriobotrya fruits except for Loquats. Maybe someone has more information about it or experience growing other Eriobotryas.

i remember looking into this a bit
bronze loquat was the only lose edible relative
and , while supposedly edible, no one eats it where it grows.

if you go up  1 level from Eriobotrya , there are a ton of edibles.
most we already know.
