The Fiji Longan to chase is the giant with leathery skin.
I only tried an over ripe one but very good. A4 lychee is from Guandong. Are you sure they are not the same and are both Sansuelin variety you are chasing? Not many Erdon Lees around.
Sorry to interupt on this thread, but it makes me wonder why these varieties have not landed in the US yet?
China might not have Erdon Lee yet and the Sansuelin seedless has been in Australia at least 7 years. Australian Customs are even stricter than the US. maybe the US is not ready for an out of sequence fruit and needs to go though is Fai zee sui phase yet to avoid a great disturbance in the continuum.
People have seedless lychee trees in CA. I know someone with one that is already fruiting who is a member here. Ive got a small tree that is supposed to make large seedless fruit from China. Just picked it up this year so I can't personally confirm how it looks but the seller is a reputible guy. Theres several seedless varieties here.
The second pic post by wang sure looks like erdon lee. Above is erdon lee and the big seedless in Australia. Yes a pulasan in my profile pic, a big sibabat
Fai zee siu is a respectable fruit if you cant get your first choice. You'll be hocking up the brewsters after trying them. Any fruit that has a name meaning concubine laughing is worth a shot.
Buddy, they sell air layers on etsy for pretty reasonable price. The seller is called 7 torpical I think. You can get air layers and then in spring order scions from the USDA in Hawaii and graft your new types.
