I have to find out about that, so far so good....i have seen fingerlime tree's of the same size as mine for sale and they had around 10 fruits each. But those looked very chlorotic, mine looks great green.

Noticed my first flower buds on my rose apple grown from seed. plus everything else. citrus, mango, surinam, mulberry, kei apple, fig, white sapote, avo, list goes on. still waiting 8 years later on my sapodilla... what are the chances it was airlayered as advertised.

Same here on my alano sapodilla.  I got it may of 2019.  Haven't shown any sign of growth yet.  The owner of Champa where I got it from said it was an airlayered tree.

Oh, well.  The satanic, bushy tailed horde are pretty much taking all my green peaches. History repeats.  Star Ruby grapefruits and oranges (n-33, Moro, sanguneli) are blooming nicely! Loquats are tasting great now! Ujukitsu has more flowers than IV ever seen.  So does Chandler pomelo.

Poncirusguy, a New Zealand Lemonade tree grafted on a Sour Orange rootstock is very interesting. I like that combination.  I bet that combination will produce a lot of high quality fruit per size of the tree

Thanks  Millet
I forgot to mention that it has 2 lemons about 1/4 yellow.  I will find out in about 1-2 months.  The tree is small in a 6 gallon bucket.

My finger lime has hundreds of tiny flowers.

I heard many people in Thailand that is not so easy to grow fingerlimes there, many fruit drops.

I easy counted 50 fingerlimes smaller than 1 cm...but they are all gone, now it's hard to even find one from 1 cm...

Oh well, even if i get a few of them it's okay...

Ilya11, the FD you show above as being the tree that is comming out of dormancy earlier then your other FDs, then I would assume that it will also be less cold hardy than your other FD trees.

I do not have any problems with cold sensitivities of poncirus here. It is completely hardy in Paris region with the presence of very old trees in the gardens.

Too bad that nurseries don't graft on Sour Orange anymore. One of the reasons is obvious the tristeza virus. Still outside the subtropical areas it's a good candidate for containers. Obviously rootstock should come only from disinfected seeds, and not from cuttings.
Title: Re: What is flowering now for you?
Post by: Millet on March 26, 2020, 06:28:07 PM
Like lebmung wrote, Sour Orange is a fantastic rootstock, as long as the grower does not live in areas susceptible to tristeza virus.  Sour  Orange has high peel quality, high to very high internal quality, excellent tolerance to Phytophthora, no common incompatibilities except with kumquat & eureka lemon, broad soil adaptation, and as far as it's yield it is generally very similar to that of trees grafted on Carrizo.  One interesting point about trees grated on sour orange rootstock. Where tristeza is wide spread, all trees grafted on sour orange will be likely be killed, EXCEPT LEMONS.

I had about 40 finger limes last year from a 1 m high tree, none droped. Environment make the difference such as light and humidity.

Yuzu flowers, the tree is only 60 cm high with around 45 flowers. Vrey thorny 8cm long thorns like nails.

sunny:
Keep the tree on partial shade under a tall tree. They also don't like too much water. It also depends on what rootstock you have.

Most of my lemon and lime varieties are flowering or have flowered in the past month. I also have a naval Orange that’s flowered and is making some fruit.  Other citrus (mostly -quats amd calamondin) hasn’t flowered yet.  As far as non-citrus, I had a pomegranate put out some flowers but all dropped in the past month. I also have a variety of berries as well as a cherry and star fruit that are flowering.

It is grafted on Citron, it scares me because from what i have read citrons are really cold sensitive but it did great this winter with no protection

Fuyu Persimmon has woken up finally and now has lots of flowers.

The Cherry of the Rio Grande keeps blooming.

(https://i.postimg.cc/HrsB4L3c/rio.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/HrsB4L3c)

One of the oranges decided to have orange blossom again.  The Surinam Cherry keeps producing new fruit, the guavas, pink and Cattley won't stop; Barbados Cherry has a couple of flowers, moringa and cocoplum keep going.  Of course papayas are year round and mulberries are going gangbusters.  The Pickering Mango and Brogdon avocado may finally have stopped blooming.  What else?  Muscadine grape, elder, atemoya, blackberry and lastly the jujube.   Fruit ready for eating are the blackberries, Surinam Cherry, mulberries, papaya, passion fruit, elder, banana, starfruit, pineapples and I just ate the last Mewia kumquats.  Oh and the Padgett pomegranate had 5 flowers and 1 has pollinated. Good times.
