i chopped off the last blossom to make cambodian sweet and sour soup, and left the banana on the plant to see what happens as experiment. our weather will start getting warmer in the next 3 weeks.

my namwah is flowering and fruiting. But as you can see, there are no more leaves. Will the little guy make it to fruition?  Anything I can do to help it?  I just don't see how it's going to make it without any more leaves coming out. Is it possible for it to grow new leaves at all?

mine started from seed. first winter was in greenhouse, this year, second winter it is outside next to mango tree, mango are ok, but this tree leaves and lateral branches are defoliated .  hope it survive the winter .  it does grow very fast and it loves heat.

can it be topped off so that it doesn't get too tall?

are there different variety? i am use to seeing the one in cambodia that are so tall.

the challenge with this palm is that when you get it to fruit by the  time you are senile, you cant even climb up to pick the fruit unless you are still a young lad. or you can post on craigslist for a hobbyist climbing to challenge them to climb up the tree.

Gary,
You might want to try lighting firecracker next to the tree.  The chemical from the firecracker seems to help induce flowering according to some web post I read.

i think the durian contest should be limited to people living in non-tropical climates. Kinda like a special olympic contest.

So far, anyone getting close to being a  durian gold medialist?  It would be nice to see pictures of your durian plant.

I noticed that all the banana under the palm tree have not has any issue with the cold.  The palm trees are great protection for plants.  I have several logan seedling and chili plants under my palm as well. They do not get any leave burn at all.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / where to find durian farm in kauai, HI
« on: December 29, 2015, 04:55:02 PM »
hello,
planning to visit kauai. What time of year to go for durian and where can i find durian farm there?  Thanks, kyna

745
how about this crate as a pot for the mango tree? I'm thinking of putting barks at the bottom and sides, then place mango in the middle.  It looks like the gopher will not be able to get thru or chew thru the plastic at the bottom.

Whatever Seeds I have managed to produce goes into my breeding selection program over the next decades ( trade are only to other sith breeders or Sith Collectors who have a heavy desired to spread the selection far and wide & have something of interest to trade) hopefully an improved Whitman Fiberless with the self high pollination bearing of Soren Arusha traits with the cold, disease, pest resistant of the Whitman Original; but above all a fiberless creamy flesh that melt in your mouth not choking your throat with its no melt in your mouth cottony fiberflesh!😄. Yuup hopefully two strains to develop; Boca Snob Whitman & Soren Arusha Whitman will be improved Whitman fiberless for the lazy pomologists!😆

Hi ccoconut,
love your pee fertilizer. I've been using it fresh pee on my banana and it's blooming now(kinda suck since it's winter). I'm in sf bay area, my sister got me some soursop from hawaii, unknown variety.  can I trade them for your fiberless seeds?  thanks.
