Trace elements in greywater
« on: December 07, 2013, 03:23:29 PM »
I was searching about hand pollinating sapodillas on the net when I stumble upon the following post on Cloud Forest in 2006.

are you using grey water? (laundry and or bath water). one batch of laundry water can lock up all the trace element forever (they use very effective sequestering agents that bind essential elements)
Your thoughts?

forever  is a long time.  most chemical reaction have a equilibrium so that the reaction does go backwards & the trace elements will be disassociated ; this may be minuscule but some will be released. If the solution is diluted enough trace amounts will be available. I would worry about other contaminates in wash water.

There are ways to release the nutrients from most any chemical. I agree with maui guy in that I would worry about what else is in the gray water.
