Mango second crop
« on: May 03, 2021, 02:13:48 PM »
I've rarely had a second crop but I'm delighted when I do... it spreads the season out longer. This year (4/30) my Madame Francis started a second bloom when the first is only a couple of weeks from ripening. Anyone else getting a second mango bloom?

Regards,

I had/have on a few trees.
Nothing close to the first.
The observation that stumps me is there are few if any flies to be seen and they are the prefered pollinators. Considering I don't like flies, I would sure love to see some right about now :)

You need a dog... their poop is like gravity, it draws flies in like a magnet :-)

Here, the bees have come back for a while, I think my city is spraying for mosquitoes and it's killing the bees.

We have a huge bloom on Madame Frances now too.

Still some sparse bloom on a bunch of other varieties.

I need a dog for the racoons :)

I had not thought about mosquito spraying, perhaps that is the culprit.  I did think about fish heads and other "fly magnets" but the smell or thought of the smell put me off.
