Is there a reason you prefer the Waldin over other avocados for rootstock? Does that variety do better in TX as a rootstock?

Our soil is very alkaline and my well water has very high salt content.  The walding rootstock grows well in alkaline soil and tolerates salty water.  Last year my cold hardy avocado is almost defoliated due to severe salt burn

There is no walding fruit until July-August. Brooks Tropicals I think sells seeds I know people that have gotten a case from them.  I'm experimenting with a variety that should be more salt tolerant than Walding.  Berta Rodriguez check it here: http://www.myavocadotrees.com/berta-rodriguez.html

I used to have a grafted Berta Rodriguez tree about 5 years ago. I grafted it from budwood from Williams Grove. Have you tried the fruit?
