I have said this before, if you dont know the variety i would be more thsn overly cautious when buying a jackfruit. The majority of unknown jackfruit sold is nothing more than poor quality that is destined for the trash can. People grow seedlings of anything and much produce poor quality, many of slimy/soft type fruit, insipid taste and overall uninspiring (in addition to all the old Black Gold trees spread across the area). It can be a costly investment (not like buying mango for $2 to try only to toss it after a bite). Caveat emptor, just saying...
