Need help with a 12 year old Avocado tree planted from seed
« on: August 14, 2020, 12:14:37 AM »
I have a Avocado tree my boss gave me 12-14 years ago from seed and it is in my backyard and it looks like 15 feet high but it has Never produced fruit.  Should I kill it and start over with a grafted tree?  It has 4 2" stalks at this point.

Thanks,
Luis

I would just top work the tree. Try to join a fruit club or watch grafting videos online. You can graft your tree with multiple different varieties and you could get good fruiting within several years if your tree is healthy. Grafting is easy if you’re retail oriented.

I have too worked many unfruitful trees or trees that produced poor fruit. With an established rootstock, they recover extremely fast.
