for those who have germinated baby sugar apple seedling, please use sterile medium( potting mix) when germinating. and use fungicide sprays  on young seedlings to keep damping off fungus from killing them. I lost a batch of 400 seedlings this way. and a few customers have the same results.

I use copper fungicide. If you can get them past the baby  6 inch tree stage you should be in the clear.

happy growing.

Thanks for the advice. Mine haven't reached the 6" marker yet and growth has drastically slowed down. I wonder if this is why.

It is O.K. for the top growth to pause while a lot of roots are growing.  This alternation is actually normal.

Not at all connected to Isan Indigo seeds but just yesterday I was cleaning out my greenhouse and found six standard sugar apple seeds which had germinated after one year in multi-cell seedling trays. The trays were filled with weeds but also had 4" seedlings mixed in.
So, some of these can be quite recalcitrant. If you have no success perhaps search or screen out the seeds and inspect the seeds to confirm if they may still be viable.

My one seedling not doing well.

How about yours?

I ended up getting 2 to germinate. I have 11 sugar apples including 2 Big reds 2 Isan Indigo and some
other seedlings from last year. All of mine are 4'-6' and in 7 gallon pots. I figured out something for me in Florida.
I had 3 "special" Na Dai from a forum member. They were the last to germinate this past winter. One was exceptionally
small and I put it on my lanai that gets filtered morning sun only. It is now bigger then all the rest that were in more
direct afternoon sun?  Seanny your tree is plenty green and not dying was it in direct sun? I also notice the flowers set and
the trees grow best when we get humid in the rainy season. The spring the trees don't grow much and the flowers don't set

Gonz, humidity plays little it's mostly yr lows. here is a Big Red grafted last year onto cherimoya rootstock it's over 6' tall. Same with my real Giant Yucatan it's the same size grafted on cherimoya rootstock in January 2018....btw, the nice thing about saramuyos in socal is the set on their own.

I got the date messed up.
I ordered seeds in Oct 2017.
My picture said 2 year old. It was 1.
It will be 2 years this Oct.
I'm too anxious!

Here is my only seedling so far.

I cut 2 small branches to graft.
Here is a good graft.

Maybe I can get a fruit this year.

How did it taste and compare to the green variety?
Don’t rush, take time and enjoy life and food.

I want one. These sound awesome. Would have to pot it since our occasional cold winters kill my in ground Annona every couple years. My next tree hunt I suppose hehe.

I really enjoyed this sugar apple. It pealed easy and was chewy.
I have two more small fruit on separate trees but I can't wait to get these
two trees larger and in full production. It had 31 seeds so at least this one
was not low seed count.

Gifted a fruit that made your future wife’s family envious, and you didn’t share any with them?
Did you eat it in front of everyone and leave them without a seed?

Any updates?  How are everyone’s Isan Indigos doing?  How are the trees growing in Southern California?  How do they handle our winters?  Please tell. Please tell.
