Mine r doing well. leafing out. Can be left outside in colder zones!
My friends in FL also have theirs leafing out and doing good.
I don't know about the warmer weather though but they seem to be ok for now!

Also contact me if you need other types like giant rose and golden finger...
very limited on those varieties.

I keep mine in my garage and it works well...I have found out that even leaving it out in the sun for a day or so really wrecks it.
If that happens, just peel off the next few feet of wrap and then you're good.
I feel like a year is a good start. But it's relatively inexpensive I'll buy a new one each year.
Now with buddy tape it's more expensive so I'll guard it with my life lol.
I have a brand new roll just sitting in my house for fear I'll leave it outside on accident :P

So I did reply to Kevin's post on the PGA thread on FB,
my plant came as eugeniafolia, but I think the consensus is that it is same as myrtoides.
The fruits are pretty good as a snack,
but the rind is astringent like mentioned and the seeds could crack your teeth.
I think it's a keeper due to it's vigor and ease to grow and it doesn't seem to stop fruiting.
they have to sit on the tree for what seems like years or else it will  be too sour lol.
My friend in SFL says its a good fruit though, so I think age may play a role too.
I'm sure there are better psidiums out there though :)
Like the pink guava from Jet or some guineese selections from David.

I will say that starting with grafted trees is much easier and faster in terms of growth for me.
Seedlings can be hard to get to grow when starting in sub optimal conditions like inside or a grow tent for some reason.
Now of course, it costs more money to get one, but that's what I've experienced.
Or if you are growing out seeds to use as rootstock to graft, I would just use the supermarket tommy ones as they are very vigorous.

37
Some people have been importing some of the top tier ones from China.
Now, with all that's going on with lychee here, I would be very hesitant to do that.

Good to see...
I recently became aware of how good tasting and cool these fruits are.
In fact, I'm eating some tonight.
Have some seeds hopefully sprouting so I should be able to report back next spring.

They should do well on reds.

Relax, it looks like a normal bloom to me. And yes, males are first to open shortly followed by females and then a few hermaphrodite flowers (hermaphrodite bloom does not tend to make high quality fruit from what I have observed). It is very rare to see completely all male bloom on a tree. The only time I have ever seen that is as the result of a freeze about the time the flowers were going to open. Some varieties have a lot more female blooms (like Mauritius). Sweet Heart has way fewer. Remember, out of that whole panicle with hundreds of blooms only around a dozen will end up as fruit. So, there don't have to be many female flowers...
Thanks!
I'll keep you updated on how it does.
