Many people haven’t heard of Jaboticaba  or auchacharu

And haven’t tasted them either as all are familiar with oranges and apples

My retriever has been my foe for Rollinia

I planted the first one and was putting tools away and I look back and his is using it for a chew toy

The second was a tennis ball accident

Ball bounced to the Rollinia and it was wiped out in the process

I will try a third some day

Back in the 80’s a guy came to the door calimondinwanting kumquats

Told him those are Calimomdins and very sour and he gives me the face like I’m lying

So I get a paper bag and let him fill it up and when he was getting in the car I said try one

I repeated that they aren’t Kumquats and sour

He expected Meawa sweet kumquat and tried his first and maybe last calimondin

Vanilla and cacao

Soursop if you have the room

Garcinia types we can grow increase with a greenhouse

Never seen Toppy when he wasn’t smiling

He gets more pleasure selling a pound of Lychee for four bucks than have millions in his pocket

At Fruit club meetings you will find him on the first row where he can hear and learn from other experts

He is still planting new fruits trees

Proud to know him

The ones I sampled were green and were wonderful so I planted mine outside the fence as it won’t bring em in like a red fruit does

I stumped my key lime that had dead limbs from greening

Was going to finish digging it out but time got away from me so it leafed out again with no greening

Second year with fruit and no greening

It’s a seedling and noticed lots of seedlings in hammocks in the woods still growing

So I tried it on my grafted Dancy tangerine

Cut it back hard sprayed it with oil when it came out to deter leaf minors and it is cropping again like normal

Start with your trees and plant smaller things around them for protection

I have a coffee plant for about fifteen years now that has froze back a couple times and came back out and is about 12,ft at the moment

Some things like moringa is cut to the ground to over winter and comes back out

There is a lot you can grow here when you start understanding your land

48
Anyone know if garcinia will germinate a different type

49
On the other hand I have a twenty year old jaboticaba and Starfruit and a 17 old coffee bush that has froze down a couple of times and grew back again and blooming now

my illama is doing well also

20 mango in ground

9b isn’t all the same

If you’re in the country it’s going to be colder than a city

Auchacharu can be planted outdoors in 9b

Vanilla and cacao would need the extra warm
