I am up here in Jacksonville, FL and have "no business" trying to grow an "ultra tropical" tree like this, here are some pics of it in the pot. Anyone else attempting to grow breadfruit?

Yes, 2.5 years in the ground and first flowering noticed last week. I am in a good microclimate here on Pine Island surrounded by water approximating zone 11 (maybe).

I’ve got a few on order. I’m a little too inland (approx 6 miles) to get them established without a tad bit of help. Once established, they will be ok. I plan to put a small heater with a blower above the tree during the winter months with a temperature actuated switch. This way any night that gets below 45 (which is very uncommon here) it will turn on and warm the air around the tree.
Just east of me in my parents neighborhood there are several beautiful specimens currently loaded with fruit. There yard will soon have one in the ground. They are within 2 miles of the coast

I fruited mine a few years it a row. I was really nice and full, well over 20’ tall. Then Irma came and down she went. I chopped it chest height and pushed it back to standing, half of the root system pulled and exposed. That was 2 seasons ago, and now it is just beginning to recover. Hopefully it will return to fruiting next summer.
