Die Back on Jackfruit
« on: April 28, 2019, 07:07:11 AM »
The tree is planted on a slight hill and gets full sun. Been aiming to water it once a week, is this a sign it needs more aqua?

Jakfruit trees have variables when it comes to nematodes susceptibility.
Mulch, water ,shrimp, shells can help.

A lot of my jacks do that too.  For the most part they recover during summer.  I don’t have a good explanation as to why they do it, but yeah maybe nematodes and/or nutritional deficiency

if you sapling is getting big enough to support some dieback I'd say you are doing good!  I lost a lot of jackfruit trees, but finally succeeded in an area getting about 75% daylight hours on a raised mound with drainage.

This is my Suriya 'red' grafted jackfruit after 18 months, you can see getting dieback on the leader during dry season and this is the second time (last dry season as well).  Can not wait till this becomes big and provides a better view.

Could be cool weather damage or nutritional deficiency. Or both.

My feeding schedule has been small dose of fish fertilizer once a month. Past couple months started using liquid kelp feed also once per month mixed with the fish. I have missed a couple feedings.

I believe the tree developed the die back end of winter our coolest night being 43'
