Anyone know this fig tree species
« on: August 27, 2015, 12:18:24 AM »
Just curious, but does anyone know the species of this fig tree in the pictures?

http://english.vietnamnet.vn/fms/vietnam-in-photos/109616/photos--hai-phong-ancient-fig-trees-in-ripe-fruit-season.html

It doesn't appear to be the "Vietnamese Fig" some people posted pictures of in forums from SoCal nurseries or the tree in Santa Barbara.

Moon fruit, Diospyros decandra. Very fragrant. I was told that there is a new variety that is better tasting than the original one which is bit astringent even when fully ripe.
