Please id this Pakistani mango
« on: March 29, 2019, 06:30:33 AM »
Hi,
Bought those tasty mangos in Germany,

The vendor only knew they are from Pakistan. Any ideas about the variety?

Looks like a Chaunsa/Chausa mango variety.

There is some resemblance but Chaunsa is supposed to be pale yellow, not yellow-orange and should be in season in August, not March.

More like Sindhri, including the description of its flavor.

I believe it is Sindhri but some Langra cultivar from Pakistan also look the same. In here I have seen 4 types of langra,3 types of chaunsa and 2 types of anwar ratol (fruits and Grafted trees).

My main problem is that all those varieties are supposed to ripen in June or later. Is there no yellow Pakistani mango which typically ripens in March?

I hope you kept the seed.  You never know with Pakistani mangoes.
