I think Juliette is a great mango from the somewhat recent releases that are not much talked about.

I have one waiting to go in the ground. Does the tree need a lot of space? Low or medium vigor?

Medium for me.

In terms of productivity, where would you put the Juliette?

Spoke to someone at Zills and was told that they are going to release a mango by the name of Orange Sorbet. Is this totally different than Orange Sherbet?

No it’s the exact same. (G-32, Orange Sherbet, Orange Sorbet)

Middle of the pack. Not “heavy” but Certainly sufficient for a backyard.

I was at Zill’s today. Juana took care of me. I bought 20
of the best mango trees. I asked about Orange Sherbert
She said that they were discontinuing Lemon Zest
and they will start selling Orange Sherbert in its place.
Today is Friday March 9, 2018
This is 100% the G-ds honest truth. Juana did not say when but thought sometime
Before the end of the year.

I wonder if this means that OS is more disease resistant? Does anyone know if OS is less susceptible to Powdery Mildew?

I have a Peach Cobbler that is two years old and planted in the ground here in Orlando Fl. It's surrounded by many other varieties. Not only was it in full bloom after two years but it took a major cold hit when the temp went down to 27 degrees here for several hours. This temp wiped out several of my 1 yr old mangos and got trees that were even placed right next to the house. The Peach Cobbler was unprotected and in the coldest spot on the property. Yep, killed some smaller branches but it has the quickest recovery time of all my 20 varieties - Mallika being a good second. I'm impressed. That being said, I have yet to taste the fruit since the cold killed my flowers.

Peach cobbler has a pleasant  tangerine flavor.

They don't sell one or two trees, do they?  What would be the smallest purchase? 20 trees, like you bought?

I think Peach cobbler is a mango possibly well suited for California and cooler areas. It has struggled to flower for us here and spent far too much time growing.

Alex,
How would you rate Peach cobbler in resistance to the new desieses and also sensitivity to sulfer as compared to the other members in its lineage?

Its likely resistant due to containing Gary/Julie genes ( great-great grandchild of Julie). The fruit has been completely clean thus far.

No phytotoxicity to sulfur observed. Really only a couple cultivars have that issue.

Sounds like a good fit for those of us up here in Merritt island with our cooler climate. Mine seem to be flowering profusely and setting well but are still young and small. It will be a few seasons untill I'm ready to report on how the fruit does up here.

Hope mine survives long enough to get some good fruit. Of course , if it fails I may just have to rely on my ‘orange sherbet’ 😀

And let us not forget the wonderful 'M-4', sibling of the 'Cotton Candy';

and the wonderful 'K-3', also known as 'Kathy'.  The latter, I only recommend for the coastal zone.

A few of both were sold last year.

If you had to pick between cotton candy or M4 given that yard space was the issue which one would you pick and why?

I only observed these in 2015.

For flavor and heavy production and more lateral growth habit and lowish-to-medium vigor, the M-4.  But the original tree is said to be an every-other-year producer--- that is why it hasn't been promoted.

I also very much like the flavor of the Cotton Candy, and its sturdy, upright growth habit and non-exagerated lowish to medium vigor.  It is said to be a more dependable, annual producer.

If I had a tiny property to plant mangos, I would buy either one of them, and then, 3-4 years later, I would top-work graft a few of the branches with the other variety.

I planted some of the fan favorites recently and since then they have faced Irma and freezing temps to blooming.

I don’t spray or didn’t as for the first time I sprayed sulfur on the Lemon Zest.  I knew it was going to have PM problems and love the fruit.  The others I watched from blooms being frozen off to rebloom to weeks of perfect weather for PM.

So the winners

Fruit punch had a couple panicles get pm but I clipped those off.

Peach cobbler very clean. Juicy peach  Kathy , sweet tart, Phoenix, and honey kiss all clean.

Nam Doc Mai had the most for older tree and Providence for the younger.  Showing up for first time in Fairchild and a lesser  amount was the  Edgar and
Young. Light return on fruit punch.

Reference to the question of how many trees do you have to buy at Zill High Performane.
You can’t buy any without a commercial license. With a license you can buy even 1.
I was there a week ago and they were cleaned out of the top tier mangoes. I wanted 15
Pineapple Pleasures they had none. No Cotton candy, Sweet Tarts or Lemon Zest.
I was able to get 2 LZ that had just been transferred from a 3 gallon pot to a 7. I was happy to get the last of them so I overpaid. So if you want LZ you should check the retailers who carry it cause Zill won’t make any anymore. They will be switching to Orange Sherbert production. That’s so damn cool considering
all the desperate discussions and neurosis on these pages over the years on how we can obtain an Orange Sherbert. Myself included. Now one day we all can see for ourselves if OS will be #1!!!!!!!!

Going to dig up my maha Chanok and give it to a friend for a prime spot in my yard to put in Orange Sherbet...

And yes I have tasted both.
