Tropical Fruit Discussion / Where to get pepino dulce?
« on: October 24, 2017, 05:19:00 PM »
I'm looking to get cuttings as well as more info and pictures of pepino dulce.  There doesn't seem to be a lot out there regarding this fruit.  Is anyone growing it?

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Looking for papaya seeds
« on: March 27, 2016, 09:04:42 AM »
Hello all,

I am looking for papaya seeds.  I am looking fro different varieties than grocery store papayas.  Does anyone have any?  Where is a good place to get them?

Thanks.

Hello all,

I am in Miami, FL and I want to build a small screened area for some smaller plants.  This area is approx. 7'x6'x5' (wxhxd).  Does anyone in the area have experience with this sort of project?  Any help or suggestions from anyone in any area would be appreciated.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Dragon Fruit Taste Reports
« on: November 20, 2014, 05:42:16 PM »
Is there site that lists DF taste reports or ranks them?  I know it's subjective but I just wanted to know what is preferred by people "in the know".  Also wanted to know what to stay away from when I am in the nursery picking out DF plants.

I currently have a Halley's Comet plant which I planted a month or so ago.  I also have other unknown DF's and different cuttings.

How about lathering a PT pole with a stucco surface. Then the plant would behave like it was climbing on masonry. I am thinking of trying this approach with 'surface bonding cement'. I'll report on how it works....

If you did this (I would think), you would have to screw metal lath to the pole then the stucco.  Maybe that is what you already had in mind.

Regarding the PT wood.

I would not personally use it, my 4x4's are cedar. It did take some searching but I found some at a local HD (they cost about 4x as much though).  The cedar posts are rough enough on their own as they are not finish sanded.  I have not topped mine either and will get to this eventually.  I will post some pics later.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Can anyone ID this dragon fruit?

Can anyone help me ID this dragon fruit?

I am located in south FL and am looking for dragon fruit cuttings. I am looking for any type except what I have.

I currently have a Halleys Comet variety and several other plants which I have no idea what they are. I can trade cuttings of these or buy. I can provide photos of the mother plants where the cuttings would come from. Currently the several unknown DF plants I have all have blooms.

Let me know.

Just picked up my first DF cactus, it said it was the Halley's Comet variety.  I set a pole for it and will top it off with something in the future.

I am also looking for DF cuttings of different varieties in the South FL area.

Here is my setup as it currently stands.

I also planted some cuttings of the HC that were loose or broken due to transport.

Hello all,

New to the forum here.  I have just planted a dragon fruit cactus and am looking for more.  I lave to plant things in my yard that I can eat.  I also have mango and star fruit. I also want to get some bananas planted.

Hello all,

This is my first post to this wonderful forum.  I have been reading for some time and have just signed up.

Today I went north to a nursery in Broward and picked up a DF cactus.  It is called Halleys Comet.  Once I came home, I set up a post and planted that sucker.

I am looking for other types of DF to put around the post as well.  Let me know if you have any cuttings that you can spare.  I am willing to pay, as I don't really have anything to trade.

Thanks,
Shawn
