Kaz, another photo. If you like to try this CCPP cocktail, I can save you two fruits. I know you are not far from me.

This is my first year getting fruit. I grafted them on my mature tangelo tree in Spring 2021. So I am not sure when is best to pick. Will observe and see.

If you take people's money and committed to ship a product within 6 to 12 months but failed, isn't the best thing to do is to offer your customers REFUND? Provided you really accepted 2500 orders, do you expect all customer to accept delays unconditionally and wait ....who knows "when" to receive the product?

Same here. Ordered a tree in 2021 and nothing. No response.

I saw you are on the hunt for TW guava. I know a master garderner here in Socal who propagate pearl, crystal, emperor, king kong, watermelon, TW ruby and many others. He used to take preorders and deliver a van load of trees up to Norcal. Not sure if he is doing that anymore.

I bought emperor, watermelon, king Kong, crystal and pearl from him. I visited his yard many times and seen his trees where he air layered them. I can provide his contact if you send me an IM.

Unknown. I know many nurseries (especially in socal) source their air layered guava trees from local growers. Many may not even know the variety and simply say "Taiwanese". I bought 4 trees few years ago from a local nursery labeled "Taiwanese". One of the four is different. Better quality fruits but a bit more shy bearing.

Would like to buy some but I don't think it is time to graft yet. I am in SoCal. I grafted a bit early last year and scions choked with sap overflow.

Will you be selling in late March?

Citrus General Discussion / CCPP Budwood Price Hike
« on: January 07, 2022, 07:42:23 PM »
Anyone noticed price per bud raised from $1.50 to $5? I know the inflation is bad but I did not expect wood pricing to jump >300% ;D.

Not that I am complaining but I believe this truly ruined it for me as a hobbyists and encourage people to get woods from neighbors, friends and family members....which spreads the HLB even more.

Citrus General Discussion / Re: Are these Sumo tangerines
« on: December 09, 2021, 12:47:01 AM »
These can be underripe/off season tangelo as the peel looks thin. My tangelo harvested in August looks similar (the one on the right in the picture). The green one is a Dekopon, which usually have thicker and rougher skin than tangelo.

It can be flat or have bump in my experience. My picture showing 2 fruits from the exact same branch from CCPP, grafted onto Mineola tree. The fruit on the right was off-season (picked in August), hence the green color skin.

My Xie Shan are turning yellow. Had one more than a week ago and it was not ripen enough. Will wait till late Nov. Picture of my fruit with a cracked dekopon after some rain

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Re: For Sale: Loquat Cuttings
« on: October 09, 2021, 12:46:28 PM »
69 varieties ....wow....I didn't know there are that many loquat varieties out there.

Yes...My tree was 20 ft tall and was cut down leaving 2ft of the main trunk so it gives me new shoots for ease of grafting. Please keep the goodies coming. I will need your scions again in near future ;) also thx for the advices.

I am a beginner with grafting. Is it still good time to graft loquat in SoCal?

I got very nice quality scions from this seller and grafted onto my tree few weeks ago. They survived close to 100 deg F with 80% of them took. One branch even started flowering.. And this was my first time grafting loquat.

My suggestion on mandarin varieties that I like on my trees are;
- Xie Shan
- Shiranui
- Ponkan
- Kishu seedless
- Honey mandarin (VI-133)
- Murcott mandarin (get the VI-147, not VI-462)
- Tango (not available from UCR)
- Gold Nugget (not available from UCR)
- Yosemite Gold (not available from UCR)
- Shasta Gold (not available from UCR)

I have a lot of other varieties but they don't taste as good as the above.

Kaz,
What about Kiyomi Tangor? I remember your post from some time ago. How does it stack up against these? Asking as I am planning to get scion from CCPP this coming Spring.

I also grafted 3 ponkan scions this year. They are very tiny and grow very slow. Hopefully I get fruits in 2 years.

BTW, your Vista loquat scions are pushing new leaves. I am thrilled 😊 :blank:

Here is mine, after I thinned down the fruit of course. It had more than 10 fruits on this tiny branch.

I have three branches grafted two years ago. They look exactly like yours. Big cluster and I thinned them to 4 or 5 fruits per branch. I am in Hacienda Hts.

PM sent. What is the typical length of the cutting you sell?
