More strange stuff
« on: June 03, 2019, 09:00:51 PM »
Fall 2018 I found in a grove of poncirus one limb on a large tree that had one fruit on it. The fruit was twice as large as poncirus usually is. I packed it home and ripped out the seed. It had exactly 24 seed in it. Put them in a zip lock in refrigerator. Decided to plant them a week later and did. Only on seed germinated. It has been a while but it finally has leaves..but they are not poncirus leaves. They are tri lobed but very large, not glossy. I do not know what it is nut it is not poncirus. It looks like Troyer. There are no citrus deep in the woods where this was. Dont see any way bloom could have been compromised. Too bad only one seed survived. Gonna see if I can grow it. Any iddas  ever seen this?????? Pics to follow

Why didn't you take cuttings to root? Go back this month, it's the best period to root PT

Poncirus leaves are not very glossy. Could you please post a photo?

Probably  a tetraploid, they could represent a few percent of poncirus seedlings.

You could be right. Hate it that only one seed out of all of them germinated. What you see nehind the seedlings is seed from the other fruit on the tree. All standard poncirus I believe and same age as this seedling. I can not stand not knowing what it is. Just gonna have to care for it and see what happens.
