I must tell you Luis the Siam Rubi is a hard banana to grow. It needs a lot of light and a lot of heat like minimum 16C. Last year it was 130cm high and in winter it just died. One small pup came from rhizome in spring, if it will grow big and multiply I will send you.

Some info about yam berries...
Tiny Mukago Potatoes
Description/Taste
Tiny Mukago potatoes are very small, aerial tubers, most averaging the size of a shelled English pea, approximately one centimeter in diameter. They are oval to round in shape and have dark brown to gray, russeted and rough textured skin. The flesh is pale cream to white with a sticky texture, similar to taro root. When cooked, Tiny Mukago potatoes take on a soft, bean-like texture and have an earthy, slightly bitter taste.
Seasons/Availability
Tiny Mukago potatoes are available in the fall.
Current Facts
Tiny Mukago potatoes, botanically classified as Dioscorea japonica, are the small, aerial tubers of the yamaimo, or Japanese yam plant. The yamaimo is known as the mountain potato and is best known for its large underground tuber which can take up to three or four years to mature. Tiny Mukago potatoes are the edible, aerial bulbils that appear annually and grow on the vine of the plant. Once harvested, they are planted to grow more yamaimo root or are utilized as a food source. Tiny Mukago potatoes are also known as Potato Bulbs, Potato Buds, Yam Berries and Yam Nuts. They are considered to be a delicacy in Japan.
Nutritional Value
Tiny Mukago potatoes contain vitamin B1, B2, B6, and C as well as potassium, calcium, and magnesium.
Applications
Tiny Mukago potatoes are best suited for both raw or cooked applications and taste best when boiled lightly, grilled, or fried in oil and salted. Tiny Mukago potatoes are often served as a bar snack in Japan. They are also used in miso soup and boiled along with rice to make Tiny Mukago gohan or potato rice. They pair well with gingko nuts, burdock root, lotus root, carrots, chestnuts, mushrooms, garlic, parsley, kombu, and sake. Tiny Mukago potatoes have a relatively long shelf life and should be stored in a cool, dry, and dark place.
Ethnic/Cultural Info
Tiny Mukago potatoes are a rarity outside of Japan, where native Ibarakians in Tsukuba and Ibaraki still often refer to the Mukago by their ancient name, Nukago. Tiny Mukago potatoes are used in shojin-ryori (Japanese temple food), which makes use of foraged ingredients. Tiny Mukgao potatoes were also mentioned in a Shijo school text, one of the earliest records devoted to the preparation and presentation of food in Japan. The text, which dates back to 1489 BCE, indicates that an elaborate plate, which ought to be appropriate for the rank of the person the dish is being served to, should be used to serve skewers of grilled Tiny Mukago potatoes and fish cakes.
Geography/History
Tiny Mukago potatoes are native to Japan, China, and Korea. The yamaimo plant grows naturally along rivers and forest edges and in the mountains in Japan, where it has a history of cultivation dating back to 50,000 BCE. Today, the yamaimo plant is grown in home gardens both for its large, underground yams and for the Tiny Mukago aerial tubers. Tiny Mukago potatoes thrive in temperate climates and are found mainly in Japan in home gardens and at local markets.

My Sunflower Pawpaw trees. They are big but no fruits yet...
(https://s22.postimg.cc/8pqr04aul/pawpaws_sunflower.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/image/8pqr04aul/)
@Luisport: Thanks for sharing the pictures! Very impressive!
To your comment regarding your not yet fruiting PawPaw s 'Sunflower': At this size the trees should have blossomed at least the bigger one. Is that so?
It could have the following reasons (without claim to completeness in the enumeration!) for the fact that due has had no fruits so far:
1) The trees have bloomed but the flowers have not been pollinated.
Possible reasons:
a) No insects have been present that have pollinated -> Remedy: Manual pollination
b) Sunflower, despite its self-fertility, is not always a good fruit when the flowers are pollinated with its own pollen. -> Remedy: Plant further Asimina varieties (even a seedling is ok). I have noticed over the years that pollination with pollen of another variety brings better fruit set.
2) Variety is no Sunflower
Possible reason: Wrong declaration by nursery
Solution: Plant an additional Paw Paw, maybe from another source.
3) There were fruit sets, which either fell off after flowering or in the course of growing.
Possible reasons
a) The Location is too dry -> So more watering should be done
b) temperatures has been too hot -> Artificial shading Installation can be a solution
4) The trees have not bloomed.
Possible reason:
The rest period was too short, i.e. not enough cool temperatures and duration / effect of the cool temperature. Paw Paw needs cool temperatures between autumn and spring for a longer period of time, maximum zone 9.

Hi! Hello my friend! But i got pawpaw fruits this year. You didn't saw the pics? Infortunately they were small but very nice. I think they will be biger next year... i hope! ;D
-
Helo Luisport,
thanks for your reply...sorryly I have seen this thread today the first time and only read the first page ...
Nice to read that you could harvest this year some small PawPaw fruits.
PawPaw variety 'Sunflower' normally produces fruits bit more large than an egg of a chicken, but some fruits can also be smaller.
When (which date?) you have posted some photos of your PawPaw fruits? I did not see this post.
Thanks!

No i don't know but it's a good try... ;)
-
I think those seedlings of avocado will be true to type because the leaves are red and they contain more anthocyanins wich its the same pigment that makes the fruit color to be violet.
My red fleshed apple ,the Red love era, also has red bark and reddish new leaves because the tree contains the anthocianins too,not only the fruit.

Yes the red love is one of the most beautifull trees i have. bark has a nice bright orange color and new growth/flowers red/violet.
I really hope the avocado will turn out great!

Nice apple varietyes and you got the star shaped apple too.
My red fleshed apple,Red love era ,has green leaves thogh not red but the fruit its deep red.
All your red flesh apple varietyes have red leaves.
The italian apple looks like it could have a little red in it also and even the quince i think it will have a little pink inside because the flowers are not fully white.

Hi! The only red apple i already had was baya marisa and is full red. The flavour is sweet and a bit tart but less than grany smith. I'm very happy that all of them are flowering for the first time. The italian i don't know but i think it's white flesh and the gamboa is bright yellow flesh and skin.

I'm fine thanks. The situation is not as bad as the media says.
Oh from Thailand, flights are regular in Portugal right now? Here postage is much slower, so impossible to get it safely now, and normally it takes 2-3 weeks from Thailand to Italy.
I only got Passiflora Frederick, Fata confetto and Maliformis but haven't tried the fruit yet.
Had a very vigorous Edulis x Colvilli which was making tasty fruits, but it did die with the burian and the next I bought was never as vigorous as the first, little growth and died easily.

Hi Luis, your collection is expanding rapidly!
Where have you got the syzygium samarangense?
Do you think your friend can sell some seeds of the red avocado?
Hello my friend how are you? I buy it on ebay from Thailand... i can give you the link if you want.
You can contact him here on forum. I buy the avocado seeds here! ;D
By the way do you think you can help me or know how i can get some good fruit passiflora varieties? I just want some cuttings...
I'm fine thanks. The situation is not as bad as the media says.

Things from Thailand arrive to me on max 2 weeks. They are very wellpacked and never had any problem! ;D
I'm dying for good passiflora like the ones on US... will continue to try!
Thank's! ;)

The dwarf orinoco is still on the pot but will be on that place. Rajapuri is the smaller, the dajiao is the tallest and rubusta is near the passing way.

I didnt fertilize it, i just let it be. After its first healthy leaf i fertilized. Mine probably had this problem from the combination of the transplanting shock and the cold weather

How long does it take from Thailand to Portugal?
Here normally it takes around 3 weeks, most of the time spent in Italy passing from one warehouse to another, frozen in customs where luckily they rarely check things from Thailand.

Here is my 1 year seedling of yellow muntingia, almost 3m with 6cm trunk at the base.
It was around 70-80cm 2 months ago at home, now it's inside the greenhouse in a raised bed.

WOW!!!
Really impressive my friend! And did you got any fruit, how is the flavour? Mine already have flower buds...
Do you have the red usual one? I love to have it too...
-
Nope, no flower yet :(
Mine is yellow too, from seeds from Spaugh from this forum. Had many seedling, but I brought them in too late, some storm killed all of them except this one which was already safe at home because it was the most vigorous.
I think the temps in the greenhouse are too high, and although it does grow well it doesn't flower. Maybe in autumn I'll get fruit.
The acerola did the same too, it dropped all the flowers once the hot weather kicked in, but the plant still grow vigorously. I can move the Acerola outside, but the Muntingia is planted in the greenhouse. I plan to put some sprinkler inside to keep the temps low and insert a fan to move the air outside.
I never tasted the yellow, had 2 red one from a nursery which I loved, but I killed one each year that's why this is in the greenhouse.
I will air layer the branch and move them outside next year while safekeeping the mother plant.
Don't put them in the ground if you have clay soil, I thought since it has roots so vigorous it wouldn't have problem with clay, but the one I bought last year and planted in ground didn't grow at all, while the first one from the same nursery was kept in a big vase with sandy soil and grew at the same speed as the current one.

The red one taste like sweetened almonds, I loved them, hope the yellow taste the same.
Don't know if you have sweetened almonds there, they looks like this:
https://ricette.giallozafferano.it/Mandorle-pralinate.html
You can get the red one from Fabio Maio, I think you already know his nursery.

Hi! Yes they are seedless.
"It is an ABB type from China, but I do not know the subgroup or what its really related to other than other Da Jiao types (there are multiples). It is a good banana, similar in taste and texture to common 'Namwah'. ABB types, partly because of their high M. balbisiana parentage, tend to be very vigorous and quick growing. They are not M. sikkimensis/M. balbisiana hybrids.
This photo from China shows 2 types. You may have to view it full size in the gallery to read the names."

very nice orchard you you have there. Wish I have the more space like yours - my tiny yards are full and overcrowded like a jungle.
And if you plant those pandan under a mature tree - with some humidity, it spreads extremely fast. My California weather is more dry, only 10-20% humidity, so it barely crawl. But my mom's pandan spread all over her yard - the location that she lives has more than 50% humidity.

Hi! Thank you very much for your reply! It's very interesting what you say. I want to grow them on pot for all the time i can. I want to use it for the leaves but it will very interesting if one day he survives our cold winter and give fruits... what do you think?
Thank's! ;D

I never seen fruits on pandanus amaryllifolus. But take couple leaf, cut them about 5 cm size and put them when you cook rice in a rice cooker. If you like coconut rice, substitute the half the water with coconut milk and add some salt. They make your very rice fragrant.

Back when I couldn't reply I wanted to (not going to reply on a tablit not easy)
anyways Pretty neat a purple avocado
Your Physalis we call Chinese lantern (what we have around)
(or the native ones always hear ground cherry pretty good tasting)
you know I'd love to share some of our native types with you
not sure of some of the things they can be pretty aggressive,
and wouldn't want to make invasive plants grow
I fight these, and wouldn't want to put people countries through it.
(you know they bred bananas watermelons to be sterile (or like mule)
it is natural not GMO (diploid (2 chromosome) crossed with a tetraploid (4)
makes uneven chromosome (3 triploid) sterile offspring)
I'd like to do that so I could share care free.
(with a passionate person like yourself)
Here We fight thickets European buckthorn Rhamnus (nice red wood Every where)
Japanese Honey suckle lonicera (every where , Garlic mustard everywhere (roots are good)
https://www2.palomar.edu/users/warmstrong/hybrids1.htm
(I hope not to change the subject here, but save people some time that may be interested in the Idea)
maybe you know something that wouldn't be invasive
I read Osage orange is bad there If you could you could graft Che onto it
(and they are seedless (female do not plant male)
I've ate it like a watermelon flavor at jerry Lehmans farm)
Do you have any near by Osage orange or also known as
( brain fruit ) hedge apple (iron wood )
I do not think )dogwood species) Cornlelian cherry is bad there
(I think I saw it on a European site)
or Mexican Hawthorns are cool too (regardless of flavor reports here)
boil add sugar it's like apple juice with Vanilla added can be grown zone 5 I believe
No sugar added it taste of nothing)
(I make thick, and dilute as I use, and make a lot to store in small space.)
That you could harvest in winter that makes it useful
(although the large fruited hawthorn I believe is it was in Chicago (Our climate wouldn't allow.)
I could get some Lemon Quince (soft ball sized ) seeds (I know quince isn't Invasive there)
I do not know of the actual name, just what it tasted like
when I make tea (by drying fruit ) or fresh) exactly like lemonade .
(the interesting things I am thinking of are even invasive here , and they are native wild plants
So wouldn't want to send may take over yard or country (good for spices though, and fruit.)
(you seem to make preserves , and I think That's cool of you do you ever try to the wild hawthorns
I wouldn't use plastic to make wine anymore , but I suppose if your going to drink in a short time
(I didn't want to sanitize , and still got 40 gallons of wine aged in plastic Gatorade
PETE bottles (not PET bottles) I wont drink, because of shortness of breath )
Sea walnut I am going to look into that dr Szymanovsky kiwi
How do the aronia taste I like the bitterness (drink a lot of black tea my favorite bitter)
I think I am going to try to soak some in alcohol to balance it
What does the Gamboa quince taste like ?
Not many grapes happen to grow any wine grapes ?
Nice Orchids, and Hedychium gardnerianum flowers
What does Cucumis anguria (Maxixe) and
Cyclanthera pedata (Maxixe do Reino, Pepino do Vento)
taste like (I know ones a cucumber family )
Do you use the linden flower for tea
(for mulberry I place tarp unshaken tree (with rope) for harvest)
maby that would work for linden (or drop on there own which I've seen)
What is Araticum I can look it up, but what does it taste like Mostly what I want to know.
That (rose apple) syzygium samarangense var. Tubtim Chandra sounds good
Whats the difference between them syzygium samarangense
Very Nice yard I think I'd buy that house on the spot , and put
(bitter Beer hops, and wine grapes on it too. :)
And this are two seed seedling avocados from a very rare variety that one friend from Belize sent me. This avocado have purple fesh! :o

Hi! Thank you very much for your long reply!
I have both table and wine grapes and i eat both. I like aronia berry bitterness too... my che tree is grafted. I think i will have ripe fruit this year... gamboa have a bigger fruit and less tart. It can be eaten out of hand.
Maxixe is more tart than maxixe do reino that is very neutral flavour. This one is very very effective to get lower cholesterol... it's a great veggy.
Yes we use linden flower tea... and it's a great ornamental tree too...
Araticum is one anonacea from Brazilian cerrado... never died but don't grow much... and rose apple it's from this year but it's growing well... lets see how she will pass winter.
;)

Hello luis, it could be anything but maybe a balbinsiana variegated. I have one and the variegation loos the same. Much thinner striping than AEAE. It could be something else though, probably need to see a photo of the fruit to ID it.
