Tamaraca Mango

Anyone ever heard of Tamaraca mango? I am going to a nursery in Ranco Cuchamonga next week, and they have this variety available. According to them it is originally from Brazil. They just say it tastes good, no other explanation. I tried to google it but nothing comes up. The price is tempting, 15 gallon for $65. It makes me just want to give it a try.

It does have a subacid element But it’s well balanced.

I live in Recife, northeast Brazil. Near the city we have an island called ITAMARACA and the local hawkers sell a variety of mango called MANGA DE ITAMARACÁ, which is green in colour even when ripe and quite sweet. I do not have a photo to send you because now these mangoes are out of season.  You can get them in the months of december -february.  Would like a photo of the mango you decribe to compare.

What a cute looking mango! I called the nursery, they just sold out but will have more after summer. Did you grow the grafted one on turpentine rootstock?

What is the name of the nursery in Rancho Cucamonga? I didn't know there is one that sells mango trees.

Tropical Oasis Farms. They usually only sell to landscappers, they won't let you touring their nursery, but you can check their catalog online, then call to check their inventory and place order. They will have them ready for pick up then. Price wise they are good, but inventory goes fast.

I found a seedling of it at Exotica. It's apparently poly, and the sap smells similar to Kesar.
