Adam, that's great you're doing that. I bet you will be very succesful. Check out how Logee's mails small plants like that. Very impressive! They have special boxes that the small starter pots perfectly fit into. Plants arrive in perfect shape.

Hey Adam. I though I would give an update on the last five scions that I have received from you. All five are doing great so far and show no signs of dieing. Here is a picture of the scion that's the furthest along showing the new growth that is coming through the Parafin.

That's the Big Red on a sugar apple rootstock. The picture was taken very close to the scion making it appear larger though.

slowly...gaining...confidence...

I've had reports of pre-healed, grafted plants that are pushing out of the tape left and right!

I grafted 4 camu camu onto vexator...shipped 2, kept 2...all 4 are pushing now.

here are a few pics of a plant that was shipped.

if this continues to work, I will try to encourage more people to buy plants this way...but I still need to trial it out....so far so good though.  :)

wow u got lucky with the Rollinias!

i grafted 20 about a week before I grafted yours...and only 3-4 look like they will take...

apparently some of the scions (branches) are destined to die back, and you can't tell until the tree starts growing again...I ended up using scions from branches that were going to be aborted.  Now I've learned to wait until the tree starts flushing out new growth to take scions!

Luckily I chose only the best scions for your trees...i didn't want any chance of failure..

but now you have me curious to see how the dream on pond apple performs!

and also the rollina on glabra...I would have never done this if you didn't ask me to!

Both are pushing new growth and doing well....I will be interested to see if there are any long-term incompatability issues with either.

Keep me posted on this experiment!  I'm glad you commissioned me to do this...otherwise, I would have never tried!

You might have me switching to new rootstocks in a few years!

my buddy Bob407 was at my nursery today to conduct his regular inspection...he was looking at some of my seedlings when he noticed that the seedlings I had labeled as A. diversifolia, were actually A. purpurea!

so looks like I'm still waiting for my illamas to pop up!  I checked on some of the seeds, they're still viable, but just haven't sprouted yet!!  (I removed half of the shell, so I can see the embryo is still white, and fresh, not rotted!)

any how, I figured I'd post this info...before someone called me out on it again!  :-[ :P

also, I should have an update very soon about shipping to CA, TX AZ and LA!

I think I will be able to ship to AZ, but the cost will be quite high because we are required to get a phyto sanitary certificate (I believe)...I will find out more soon!

thanks!!

get ready nematode quarantine states (CA, and TX especially)...I believe It's only about a 60-90 days away...(sorry can't reserve plants, when I post them for sale, make sure to be the first to request them!)

Annona diversifolia (Illama)

Eugenia selloi (Pitangatuba/Starcherry)

Myrciaria glomerata

Lucuma de Palo

UPDATE:

I got my nursery stock tested for nematodes today.  If the test results come back negative for quarantined organisms, I will be able to start shipping some really nice plants to CA (and all 50 states, but AZ has to get a phyto i believe).

The test results take about 30 days or less to come back...please say a prayer for me!

Yes, Arizona requires a phyto.  Doesn't California require one too?

no, I believe stock sent to Ca just needs to be certified.

I will let you know what I find out after the test results come back.

(from what I understand...u can just get lucky, and not have any nematodes at all...but some places, and plants are susceptible...I pray the plants I'm growing are resistant!  they don't seem to bothered by any nematodes...so that is a good sign!

please pray for me!
 ;)

Adam this is the green sapote you sold me. It's loaded! I let it dry out once and lost some leaves but it's happy now.

WOW Val!

that tree is beautiful...

the one I kept (your trees twin) has much less flowers...maybe it will catch up to yours!

make sure not to let it dry out...we are at risk because the trees are rootbound in 25 gal pots...they can easily dry out, and the fruit will drop prematurely!

good luck!!!
