White pitanga
« on: November 25, 2020, 06:47:25 AM »
I got 5 seeds of a supposedly white eugenia uniflora a while back from Vitor (wish i could contact him). Only one survived but appears I got lucky. Fruit are crisp with good flavour, a little small and slightly piney but not unpleasantly so.

A whilte-fruited E. uniflora, wow!  That really ought to be propogated.

I sure wouldn't mind having a few seeds from your plant if there're ever any available.

Cheers!

Berry is not very ribbed. Keep open the possibility that it is a form of E. blastantha, previously called E. longipedunculata. Though I do recall some kind of taxonomic mix up here.
Eugenia luschnathiana = CURUIRI.    Talisia esculenta = PITOMBA
I do not recommend people deal with Fruit Lovers, Prisca Mariya or Fernando Malpartida

I also was looking at it with a critical eye wondering if it is a different species.

The leaves look a bit big for Uniflora.

I will take some comparitive pics, the fruit is only 2/3 the size of a normal pitanga. This specimen is actually grafted onto red uniflora. Has been grafted a couple of years.
