Hello Mike and Oscar,

How would you rate this fruit? Would you say it ranks in your top 25?  ; )

What does it taste like?

Regards,
Sam

Not Mike or Oscar, sorry.
The fruit tastes good, has a coconut/almond feel, even pina colada, weak pina.
It has a high seed to fruit ratio but it sells well for me in the farmers market.
Kepel fruits twice a year for me but the season is short.
I’m not putting it in the top 10 but it certainly belongs in a good collection.
Peter

Good info. Some trees have fruit a little larger with more flesh especially big trees. A little caramel and cinnamon taste in there as well I think.

Does anyone sell plants or fruit in Florida? I would love to try one and try to grow one.

Down to about 5c and they grow fast and fruit well.

They are similar to sapodillas but denser and a lower flesh yield.
oh ok. do you send seeds? im dying to get this fruit...
Have fresh kepel seeds inside USA (Hawaii), if interested?

Sorry, I’m in Cali so I don’t think I could get any seeds..
Cheers!

How low do you think the trees tolerate? I live in zone 9b, but seeing how they grow huge trunks, I doubt I can get one to fruit. What is the damage temp and killing temp? I heard they are almost only found on Borneo and I’m guessing that means it’s cold sensitive. How far up the island has anyone grew it? I’ll try to match that to my climate.
Cheers!

Java. Don't know how cool they can be pushed but are likely to have similar tolerances to rambutans.

Hey everyone,

Recently got ahold of a Kepel seedling, however i do have some concerns regarding sun exposure and if they  can take full sun. My seedling is less than a foot tall so as of now he’s been doin fine on a window behind a light curtain. Any help is appreciated!
