Sapodilla not flowering
« on: June 24, 2020, 08:12:00 PM »
My Sapodilla tree  is from a seedling and is 13 years old not flowering. What i do to make it flower?  I also have grafted one with plenty of flowers and not one fruit last year. Flowers again this year, what do i do to get some fruits.
Thanks

The seedling is a seedling, thats most likely the issue.

How old is your grafted tree?  In a pot or in ground?  Variety?

Chico is just another name for sapodilla. That is not a variety.  How big is the tree and what size pot is it in?

Shane, can you explain bark inversion a little better can't really make out how cut's where done on trunk!
I've had same issue but is seedling maybe twenty years old and never flowered :-[ Duh, I just magnified pic and looks like you girdled top and bottom then cut vertical girdle sections leaving rectangles of bark is that it?

Wow, thanks so much for this info.
I have an Alano and a Hasya, both at least 5 years old , and are grafted.
Alano has always been in ground, never bloomed.
Hasya was in a pot for 3 years, bloomed profusely, not a single fruit. I then put it in ground 2 years ago, got a few flowers, zero fruits.
I'm gonna bark invert both of them. Crossing my fingers!

I think Hasya needs cross-pollination to fruit well. Otherwise you might not get any fruit even if it flowers profusely.

Then I'm hoping that the Alano will have some flowers.
