Same here. Waiting for my second year. It had explosive growth for its first year and I had to deal with spine covered “vines” all over the food forest. Climbed through a few papaya trees and over a lemon drop Mangosteen lol!

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Monstera vs philodendron id

Those are definitely monstera. If you want a definite id as Deliciosa, you can look at the geniculum of a mature leaf. It should have a ruffled ridge on both sides.

As small as mine are even after a year I am repotting them in a different mix to see if this makes a difference.  It might be the heat.  We get 30-40C here in the summer.  Though I thought I looked at the climate of their region in Mexico and I remember thinking it would be suitable at the time.  Maybe they are more alpine than I originally thought.

I thought I read it came from a higher elevation but I could be wrong. Hopefully we figure it out and get some fruit!

I’ve been trying but they seem to struggle with me. I don’t know if it’s the heat or what.

Ive had albino jackfruit seedlings before, they die once the seed stop feeding them since they have no way to photosynthesize.

Yeah, that’s why I’m just experimenting with them. Someone suggested trying an approach graft so I’m kinda leaning in that direction.

Received Ylang Ylang seeds and a fruit.  Very well packed and arrived quickly. Thank you especially for the extra fruit!
I’m glad! Hope the fruit was still fresh so you could smell it lol!

Kyle

Fruit was yellow but I could not smell any thing. I cut it open but still could not smell any thing - may be because of my sinuses!

Shoots maybe it wasn’t ripe enough lol! Either way, it flowers pretty quickly so you don’t have to wait too long!

I think as long as it’s grafted to a healthy green Jakfruit, the albino will survive. The chlorophyll uptake of the host plant should keep it healthy. Just like zygocactus grafted onto Hylocereus rootstock. The zygocactus needs the green rootstock to survive.🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

Thanks for the tip! I had no idea that’s what you do for the zygocactus. I’ll give it a shot.

Very interesting! I don't know how to help you. If you graft it or inarch roots I'm guessing the albino part would just die off once the seed energy depletes. Good luck!
That’s kinda what I’m thinking so gotta figure out a way to feed this thing.
WoW. Fascinating. Please baby her. No mistakes. She must survive!
I will try my best!
I keep thinking of injecting her with chlorophyll...then I think of Trump. LoL. Sorry couldn’t help it.
Haha it’ll turn orange lol!
Neat, I wonder how often this happens..
Not sure really. First I’ve seen.
I think if u graft it, tree can survive. Interesting something new can develop from there. It would be interesting to graft it but also let some brancheas with white leaves to grow. Maybe it gives you a translucent jackfruit
I hope so! It would be really interesting to see if it fruited!
Hmm, I think even if you graft it the rootstock still wouldn’t make chlorophyll if it’s a mere rootstock, maybe try grafting this into a mature tree as part of a cocktail tree. Using it on a regular rootstock trunk might make it die, hopefully this helps out a little. Albino plants I think susually depend on nearby plants or are parasitic. Yikes, but better keep that one alive. Wonder if this has happened before?
A white jak fruit would be very pretty   ;D

That’s kinda what I was thinking. Graft it on to a established plant with some green  leaves to help support it. Since there’s two, maybe I’ll try to graft one and see how the other does by itself for awhile. I’d like it a little bigger before I attempt anything but I’ve never really grafted a jackfruit before.

Thanks all for the suggestions so far!
