Kaz, I suspect in your climate you could use mamey or Canistel as rootstock. But don’t quote me on that.

I had a dream last night that my Yangmei plants were loaded with fruit this year. I must have been thinking about Simon's plants!

I’ve been dreaming about Yangmei for about the last three years so hopefully this is the year my dreams will come true :) There’s still plenty of time for me to screw things up and I’m especially worried because my trees are still in pots and these fruit are supposed to ripen in Summer.

I hope you and Rob will get to live your dream soon, maybe just not in my yard, lol!

I’d also love to hear how everyone else’s trees are doing from other states/climates. Yangmei can supposedly take pretty cold temperatures so hopefully members from other states can have success growing them in the cooler climates.

I will update this sale today.

I will be finished shipping out all orders by Friday, and I still have extra cuttings. So if you want to buy 1-2 cuttings, send me a message. Here's the update for the sale:

1. Large Yellow Passion fruit cutting, qty=2 max, let me know the quantity you like to buy.

2. You must be a TFF forum member for a minimum of 6 months.

3a. Cost is $10 for one cutting, length that will fit a USPS small flat rate box (5"x8")

3b. For CA residence, I should be able to use a slightly longer box (for same ship cost) for your cutting so it may be up to 12 inches long, and probably can have some leaves on the cut branch for rooting.

4. Cost to ship is USPS priority, $11. This is the small flat rate box, typically 2-day delivery.

5. Total Cost => $21 for 1 cutting.
5a. Total Cost => $31 fpr 2 cuttings.

6. Payment with PayPal only, "Friends & Family" option.

7. Lower 48 states

8. I have the right to refuse to sell to anyone, if I don't reply then you are not getting on the list.

9. Send me a message to make the purchase. I will provide Paypal info, and after shipping you will get a tracking number (USPS priority mail).

These cutitngs were taken last weekend, 4/13-4/14. Passion fruit cuttings keep for a few weeks with no problem as long as it has moisture and out of the sun.

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Re: Pinkish guava seeds for sale
« Last post by pinkturtle on April 18, 2024, 11:11:57 PM »
From what I recall, the Carmine can be divided into four varieties: Palace Pink, Full Red, Born Red, and Big Leaf Red; with palace pink and full red being the best.

not  “four varieties”,It's five series.

宫粉红 gong fen hong --Palace Pink
全红 quan hong --Full Red
出世红chu shi hong --Born Red
大叶红da ye hong --Big Leaf Red
七月红qi yue hong --July Red

七月红是最多人种植的一个系列( July Reds are one of the most widely grown series.)

“宫粉红”and “全红”不是最好吃的吗?为什么大家喜欢种植七月红呢?

宫粉红只是一个传说中的品种,是否真实存在都未可知,以前果农之中是没有“宫粉红”这个叫法的 。全红个子小、不易坐果,优点是水分足。

Thanks.,.......

Ok, thank you for the English translation of your info, appreciate it.

Yes, maybe someone got the seeds from the Carmine fruits and grew it in Taiwan since this one seems to be the only one I know around here on the forums that is this large. No one has mentioned they grow it yet.

That's why I'm sharing the cuttings with 10-20 members of this forum so next year, they can spread cuttings to other friends, and we should be able to archive this nice guava fruit. I'm also growing out as many seeds as I can from the fruits so that if the people who bought the cuttings are not successful grafting or rooting it, I should have seedlings next year to share. I just so happy that I stumbled across this wonderful guava.
