I had 2 this year grown on Pine Island. Never had this before. The flesh was all white, the skin was green with white specks. Had a resinous green taste. The taste was phenomenal.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Mango tree blooming at the end of August
« on: September 23, 2017, 08:20:03 PM »
I was at a nursery today and saw a few mangos flowering. If I was to guess I'd say it is due to survival instinct caused by Irma and not a normal bloom. I wouldn't let one try to fruit this time a year.

Does anyone know how this tree grows? Does it need something to climb on? Shade/sun?

If you bought the plant it's yours. I think the patent just prevents you from legally propagating and selling the plants.

« on: August 27, 2017, 07:50:40 PM »
I just got 4 seedling trees from a friend, he calls it Luke's White Guava. Had a chance to try the fruit, great taste, soft sweet flesh, skin no bitter and hasn't had fly problems picked on the tree. He is in the Punta Gorda area and has more well grown in tree pots for $12.00.

I would be interested  in one of those.

I don't like Ice cream banana either. I find them mushy like you say.  Namwa or apple are much better bananas imo.

There doesn't seems to be a real website for Zills.
So I have a few questions. If anyone wanted to can they just go there and buy trees?
Hours of operation? Any other info would be helpful.

I might have a few available soon. My pineapple annona, which by many accounts is a. glabra, has a nice fruit going on it, maybe more. Not sure how many seeds per fruit these usually have, or how long till it is ripe (currently around baseball size), but if you are interested will keep you in mind and let you know.

You should post pics of your fruit and let me know how they taste.

I have 2.5 acres 330' x 330'
Will be planting a lot of mangos but also other tropical fruit trees.

How would you go about spacing rows/trees?
I was thinking about 20' rows with 20' spacing, but a could get a few more rows if I did 18'.
Or I could do 20' row with 18' spacing. I'm just not sure whats the best way.

46
Could you use it for root stock?

How do you tell when they are ready to eat? I got my first one today but I want to be sure it's ripe before cutting it open.
